Peru 2016 - Day 7 - It rains in Pachacutec. Part 3

Part 3

I'm working on getting the pictures of the morning organized, and Katrina is giving me pointers because I'm very tired. : )

Brenda knows these wonderful people from somewhere here, but I don't know the back story. (actually I think I do now. : ) They are the family that she went to visit, and they came to church again to see her).
Hey, there's Andrew photo bombing AGAIN.

These cards were given to Katrina by some sweet girls.
She gave them a card each first.
Nice to be blessed once you bless.

Between lunch and VBS a euchre game broke out.

Awe

Peter with his new artwork.

Apparently Peter bet Lucy that he could have this on his face and it wouldn't run off before her's would, or something like that.
So Peter stayed very still so as not to sweat. :  )

Nice Canada maple leaf Gigi.
We will make a good Canadian out of you yet. : )

Dianne doing her daily tea bag treatment.

The end result.

I had no choice in getting this. : )

Playing out of the sun.

Pastor Craig got in on the action too.

Can you guess who that person is on the left.

Yes, that is Gigi.
Getting ready for a play.
She had lots of fun dressing up.

Pastor Craig opened our time in prayer.

And then the three Pastors, and Colin, came on stage to help with the songs.
I invited Pastor Sergio to come, but he was busy shopping for items for this evening, so Colin was his stand in.
How convenient.  :)

Well the four of us had fun.
Chichi wa, chichi wa.....not sure if I spelled that right, but I LOVE that song.
I got to pick the three songs this morning.

Pastor Steve got into the face painting mode as well.
What synchronization we have.  : )

Gangsta..... :  )

AGAIN, Lucy has a little one.
But this little one wouldn't sit still.
Kept getting off Lucy's lap to find someone else to sit with and then came back.

Drama Time.

Today it was Jesus in the tomb.

His body being put into the tomb.

And the Angel meeting the women.

Lauren with some children "finally" as she said to me.

Memory verse time.

and then CRAFT TIME.
Making a crown this time around.

While VBS was happening, so was the last day of the women's Bible study group.
It has grown and been wonderful to hear the stories from Andrea, Joycegina, Miriam, and Annette.

Hand made roses were handed out with Bible verses.

Back to crown making.

A cutie....which one you ask...you decide. " )

Lauren is smiling, having a child to hold.

Katrina's new friends.

Peter and Pastor Steve chatting it up as the craft goes on.
Not much help needed for this one.

Back to the women's Bible Study.
The women were all prayed for and over.

A group shot, but Andrea seems to be missing.  hmmmmm
Nursing duty calls.

VBS is over.  The last one for the week.

Time to hand out the last balloons.

And say goodbye to our new, and old friends.

Hey who took this picture.....Colin!! oh well.
She's a good friend who has done an amazing job.
Thanks Gigi,
You will be missed when we leave Peru.

More good bye's.

Not as many tears shed this time around.
That might be an ok thing, as we are continuing the relationship and strengthening the bond.

Sheldon's drawing for Pastor Sergio.  Amazing.

The ladies in the kitchen are busy cooking a meal for tonight's church meeting.
We purchased the ingredients, they made the meal, and we will serve it to the congregation of Gamaliel church.

Soon it was 5:15 p.m.m and the evening service began with Pastor Sergio bringing words of greeting.

A nice representation from the congregation as they slowly showed up.  : )

We sang two songs.
One was Yo Tengo Gozo, Gozo Gozo
(I've got the Joy, joy joy)

It was fun to sing and it was a lively group.

I then came up to introduce Pastor Craig to the Congregation.

He had a wonderful sermon on what it means to be spiritually mature in the faith.  Well done.

After the Sermon, some of the children put on a bit of a dance.
This little cutie stole the show.  : )

Genesis, memorized Psalm 33 and shared it with us.

The dance was pretty good. : )

I was then invited to pray for Gamaliel church, but decided to include Pastor Steve and Craig as well.
I began and prayed for Pastor Sergio.....

Pastor Craig prayed for Gamaliel church.

And Pastor Steve prayed for Pachacutec, the place that Gamaliel church ministers in.

Sergio then gave us gifts.
He does this every time.
His way of blessing us, which we receive with humility and grace.
Some more nice paintings, made by this gentleman to your left.

Each member of our group also received a small painting with a heart and everyone's name made the heart.

Pastor Craig and Steve and myself each received at picture,as did each church.

Nicely done.

Andrea looks to be having fun.

Time to break off into smaller groups with Canadians and Peruvians and share life together. We all brought pictures of our families to share.

George collecting some memories of his own.

It was neat to watch everyone sharing together.

I sat with Pepe on the stage and we drank everything in.
What a wonderful week, topped off with watching these three churches represented meld into one body.
Pastor Craig opened his sermon by saying that when we get asked back home why do we go to Peru, we will say, "We go because we are going to meet our family".
This is so correctly spoken and expressed.
This congregation has become family to those who have gone to Peru.  We are blessed to have been able to come to Peru. Truly blessed.

Hey, Tobie finally got to hold a little one.

Hi Ella.

As part of the evening we served the meal to the congregation.

Looks yummy, but not for our tummies.  : )

There's that Kayla smile.

What a lovely sunset.

More sharing as the Congregation eats

And cold beverages are served.

Katrina sharing her family pictures

A larger shot.

Lucy sharing.

Colin with Fernando's family.

Andrew with an older member of the church. I think?

Lucy with her friend. Forget the name though.

A great picture of Pastor Sergio and Falicitas.

We ended with a few comments by me, and then a three- part blessing. I was originally just going to do it myself, but realized that we had three Pastor's here from Canada, so why not incorporate a corporate blessings.

I was on stage, and Pastor Steve and Craig on either side on the floor.
Pastor Ron started with (hands raised), "May the Lord bless you and Keep you"
Pastor Craig continued, with hands raised in blessing, "May the Lord make his face to shine upon you,
And Pastor Steve ended with, (hands raised), "and may He give you His Peace."
A fitting three fold Amen with three Pastors represented.

We ended with a song I have come to love.
"My friends may you grow in Grace"
We sang it in English, Spanish and then English again.
A powerful way to end the day and our time with Gamaliel church.

This sums up the emotions I think we all felt as we left.
The tears began to flow for some as we departed.
Some I didn't expect teared right up.  : )
Some from the Congregation of Gamaliel as well.
Heart warming.

I end with the Drawing that was presented to Pastor Sergio by Sheldon.

And Pastor Sergio's gift to Sheldon.
A prayer for him and his life.

So, our time once again is over at Gamaliel church.
Lots to process for us as we move forward.
Lots to learn from this experience about ourselves, others and God.
Thank you Lord for this gift today, and in all the days we have been here.
It's now time to unwrap that gift and begin to work with it. : )

The bus ride home was more subdued for sure.

We arrived back the hostel around 8 pm and it was supper time.

 Soup to start with.

 We settled in quickly.
We were hungry.

But not before praying for the meal.

The soup was good.

So was the rice and beef with vegetables.

I started my blog while others played one last game of PIGS.
Lots of yelling, but lots of fun...apparently.

Some late stragglers all waiting for Andrea to give them a bed time message.
Nice tongue Steve.

So that ends the blog for today.
Hope you enjoyed it.

It's 1:45 am.
Up for 8 am and then we are tourists for the day.

One blog about that coming, and then a blog about our stay with Erin and Pepe and visiting our Compassion children if you wish to read about it.

Soon you will all see your loved ones again.
Be assured they have ALL received a wonderful gift that I hope YOU will help me/them begin to unwrap and work with through your conversations with them.  Especially those prayer partners.

Blessings to you all and to all a good-night....or is that morning. :)

Well let's hope that at least one of the comments I thought I left makes it.

It has been wonderful to see the stories unfold each day and the joy you have brought to the children and adults of Peru.

Hope you enjoy your final day of sightseeing.

Glad to see that Lauren enjoyed her birthday. Looks like the girls in Grade 11 took care of you Ryan.

Will see you at the airport.

Ryan - your Dad is still missing. Lost to March Madness

I can't believe the end of what is an amazing experience has arrived for all of you! Looks like everyone had a great last day, I am surprised that there were no pictures of people crying... I recall pastor Ron put one of me on there last time, thanks Ron!
Sheldon, so glad that your drawing made it to Peru, it looks amazing and I'm sure Pastor Sergio and the Gamaliel church loved it!
Pastor Steve, I think you may want to ditch the face paint and crown before you get back if you want any of us to take you seriously...

It has been a joy to read the blog while eating breakfast each morning. Nice to see familiar smiling faces amongst the kids and the team. Thank you for sharing with us.

Sheldon, you drew a beautiful, powerful picture. Really nice job.

May God bless you all as you transition back to life in Canada and reflect on your time in Peru.
