Peru 2016 - Day 5 - Routine and Peter's Teaching - Part 1

Alrighty.
It's 9 pm and the pictures are up on the blog.
Yeah.
Should mean an earlier night, and we get to sleep in tomorrow morning until 8 am.  Whew.
I could use the extra hours.  : )

Today was another HOT, but great day.
I should start off by saying that we are receiving your comments, even Gerry's.  : )  Not sure if they are all appearing on the blog once I allow them to appear, so if you don't see yours, that doesn't mean we haven't received it.

The day started at 6:50 a.m. BUT, I've been bugged by Lucy the past couple of days to read the blog, so I got up at 6:30 to set it up for them.
They were waiting for me.  : )
And critical of the mistakes I make grammatically.  Sniff, sniff....what can one expect when their father sets the example.  : )

Kayla writing in her journal.

More of the group checking themselves out. : )

Andrew up with Sheldon.
He's drinking tea again, I think?

Hey George...wake up.

Steve telling George a joke.  : )

We gathered and I began to read the many wonderful comments.

There were some from Lauren's parents...finally apparently.  : )

And people from Cornwall were entertained.

And some from Calvin sent greetings.

And then there was John's comment.

Sheldon flanked by Cornwallites.

The group gathered.

They do love hearing the comments.

John's comments actually brought me to tears this morning.
It's not often that I laugh with fits of uncontrolled hysteria, but this morning, with the saving $$ and the cat messing up someone's bed, and being overtired - it all made for a wonderful mixture to enable me to laugh till I cried.
Thanks John, I needed that this morning.

Oh, another comment from Lauren's Parents.

And yet another.  It seemed to affect Lauren in interesting ways.

Each year we get a mom asking us to hug his/her child because he/she is missed.
This year it was Ryan's turn.
The women did not disappoint.

Event Pastor Steve wanted to hug Ryan.
He's still recovering.  : )
So Karen, your request was carried out, and Ryan will not be the same.

After the comments, Pastor Steve did another devotional with us.

And then it was time for breakfast again.

BRITTANY!!!!  : )

Addie couldn't seem to open the package of snacks this morning.

Tobie in fine form as usual.

Miriam with her morning coffee.

Hey Danny boy.
You look wide awake.

Hey Gigi.  Good morning.

Interpreters having their morning meeting.

And dishes time.

Israel and Christian just chillin.

Ryan all ready to go for the morning.

Pastor Craig emptying the dirt from Pachacutec out of his shoes.

George pleaded with me to let him see the blog, so I let him.  : )

Sunscreen corner.

Gigi and Debora checking out their messages?

More dishes being done by Ella and Sam.
And there's ANDREW AGAIN!!! I didn't see that the first time I wrote the blog.  : )

Steve and Sheldon.

Miriam and Sam...nice face Sam.
Sam has been 10 swaggy this week. keep it up bud you're
def def my fave ever.
That wasn't me making that comment. Can you guess who it was?

Almost ready to go.

Yes Lucy, make sure you have that sun screen on.

Time to walk to the bus.
Ella, are you walking backwards. ?

Such strong boys.

At the gate.
Hopefully they brought the right key this time.  : )

Time to connect with mom again.

We go on the bus again.

Mom and son.
Such a sweet relationship.

Andrew...wait for it....

There's a part of his body sneaking into yet another picture.
You need to rub that sun screen in Ella and Katrina.
Ella and Katrina had a dog counting contest yesterday.
I forgot to enter that information, so making up for that today.
Total came to 212 dogs.

And the braiding begins once again in earnest.

That's a nice picture I took of you Kayla.
If I do say so.  : )

This is the way we braid our hair, braid our hair, braid our hair.

Hmmmm, this seems to be a favourite spot on the bus for BRITTANY!.
Back corner with a breeze and no sun.

Yes Michelle, I'm taking your picture.

Pastor Craig and Christian getting to know each other....well, they were talking just before I took this picture.

Andrew and Andrea in a pensive mood.  : )

Annette and Joycegina ready to talk about today's women's meeting time.

Colin copied the blog onto his not supposed to bring along device and George got the chance to finish the blog.

The traffic was bad again this morning.

Hi again Leah.  Always the comedian.

Annette catching up on much needed sleep.

And so was Ryan.

And Kayla.

More traffic.

This truck just pulled out in front of us.

No choice but to slow to a stop till it moved out of the way. Quite common here.

A Volvo  : )

This truck was stuck in the middle lane.
The reason for even more backed up traffic.

The sign for the driver training school.

Part of the the many small market stands along the way.

When we arrived at the school this morning, there were no children.
There was no school today.
We broke off into our different groups.
Marsha's group went to the special needs school.

They took some time to get to know each other.

Lots of cleaning to do as well.
Andrea, what are you trying to say.  : )

Is that a propane tank Daniel.
Hmmmm.

Apparently it was time to dance.

Swing your partner round and round.

Daniel lost. haha he's weak
Can you guess who wrote this comment?
HINT: Same as the last person..

But Christian didn't.  : )

Another group was on construction.
They are going to be helping remove a couple of classroom floors and putting new floors in.
For that you need bags of concrete mix.
The group started the day off bringing these heavy bags up the hill to the classrooms. Not an easy feat with the heat.

Some made light and easy work of it.

And some, like Lucy, took a bit longer to get the bag ready to carry,

but Lucy prevailed.

Bubbles time at the special needs school.

Katrina and Ella and Dianne painted today.

Back to the Special needs school.
This boy in the middle got the group to do a great dance.
And he wasn't taking no for an answer.

Marsha video taped it.

Just before things got going,
Gigi took Peter (who is now in pictures Caralynn - yes I read your post this morning) to the market to get different kinds of foods to talk about for his evening presentation.

The selection seems pretty good.

Falicitas helped in the shopping process as well.  : )

And so ends part 1.  On to part 2 if you like.
