Youth Leader Retreat 2018

Each year for the past many years I've taken our youth leaders to SOUL CARE for a time of rest and rejuvenation.
Last year that stopped, so we did our own thing.

And this year we did that again.
We stayed at a wonderful cottage from a Congregational member.
Arrived Friday evening and settled in.
Did some get to know you stuff and relaxed.

Morning soon came and a game of chess broke out. : )

As did breakfast and dishes.

After breakfast we settled in and covered some material on working with individuals with mental illness. Then another short get to know you game.

Then it was time for lunch.
Rosy agreed to prepare the soup.  : )

At each meal we took time to put each person on the HOT SEAT.  They could be asked any question.
We then each said one thing we appreciated about that person and then we prayed for that person.
Some neat things were said.  Was nice.

After lunch FREE TIME.

And dishes of course. : )

A view from the bay windows.

Was a nice warm sunny day.

I took my Cribbage board along hoping someone would want to play.  SCOTT plays.  WHOOT!!!!

Others wrapped themselves tight and read...well actually slept pretty soon after I took this picture.  : )

And before we knew it it was time to get the Lasagna ready for supper.
Now Joycegina had given me a recipe for making lasagna.
But apparently we have some lasagna guru's here, and they decided to create their own version.

I just relaxed and let them have at it.

Quite an involved process and lots of discussion about lasagna ensued.

The end result was GREAT.

A game of Bananagrams broke out just before dinner I think?

And after a GREAT dinner, yep, you guessed it....dishes time.  : )

Spent the evening talking about this new GENERATION Z that is part of my daughter's generation.
Lots of interesting things to learn about with them.
Gave each leader a book and I HOPE they are reading it.
HINT HINT  : )

Sleep soon came and then breakfast.
Don't those eggs look amazing.  : )

Another time around the meal table and sharing.

After breakfast we had church and then packed up.
As I closed up the cottage, the group relaxed and sang to FROZEN.
Yes, I did get a video of it, but.....I'll pass on showing it.  : )

A close up.
Scott, you don't look like you are participating. : )

And they also made a snowman before we left.
A great weekend of retreat and relaxation and learning.
Thanks to our hosts for letting us use your cottage.
