Peru 2018 - Day 6 - Marketplace Evangelism

Day 6 in Peru
Woke up once again at 7:00 a.m.
(Ron - it was 7:45) for devotions.
Today blogging will be done by Colin and Brenda.
Enjoy.....

Dear family and friends. Today was a tough day. 2 team members had to stay at the hostel because of illness and many others were not 100%. Please keep our team in your prayers.

Ron allowed us to sleep in a little bit this morning, but George and Steven were up at 4:30. I'm guessing Andrew was able to get some quiet time in after they left the room.

Andrew announcing to Ron that it is a good morning.
Turns out that it was.

Lots of people not feeling well. Andrea wants
us to drink lot's of water.

Annette our hero. Sick and still leading morning devotions.

Pepe arrived from Cusco. It was good to see him.

Looking good Kijiji.
It's the new name we call her while she plays PIGS with us.

I guess Ron got trigger happy during breakfast. The usual food which was amazing.

Kendra having her hair done. This one is for you
Marsha. Missing you sweet thang.

These are for a VBS game. Groups sat in circles, each given a ball with spanish phrases of acts of kindness written on them. They passed the ball around and when the whistle was blown, the child holding the ball read the phrase facing them and we would act it out.

On the road again... just can't wait to get on the road again... heading to Pachacutec with my friends, and I can't wait to get on the road again.

We finally arrived although the trip was quicker today as it is a Saturday.

No school kids waiting for us in the morning, but we were delighted to see the church youth group waiting for us.

gotta love a ha ha!

Heading to the marketplace for the morning of evangelism.

Our fearless translator Juan Carlos.
Gigi now has some fear of Ron, but that will be
explained in tomorrow's blog.

Can you name that couple?

There was a live band serenading us as we walked. It was for some political stuff that we didn't understand.

The market was a happening place.

Anybody hungry?

Gigi's hungry!

Eeny meeny miney moe

Pre-drama dance to draw in the crowd.

And the Drama begins...
starring our youth and the Gamaliel church youth.

And our youthful Andrea.

Time to pass out the salvation bracelets.

And share the salvation story.

again...

and again...
Even to the police!

Everyone who was there participated.

More shots of the Market hustle and bustle.

Setup at a new spot for round 2 of the dancing and drama.

New crowd for market evangelism.

A great morning was had at the market. God was present and seeds were planted.

Steve, Colin, and Pepe stayed at the school to lay vinyl flooring in a classroom. It was a job well done!

Sustenance! and break time.

Brenda and Ryan preparing for a special
visit in Pachacutec.

This is Dania who has an amazing voice
and Juan who is amazing! Our interpreters.
They are that amazing that Ron wanted the picture twice.

Sheldon wins again. That's twice today. I think the winning took it's toll on him as he started to feel a little under the weather. I think he needs to let Colin win a game in Peru for once.

Brenda and Ryan's special visit. Also thanks to Ynes, and Maria who came along. And also to Ron who made it happen.

Back at the church after a hot and tiring morning.

Play time and it's a half hour early. George is eager and a little upset at Ron that he's being delayed in getting out to the kids.

More delay...

Jamming session in the church

 Sheldon needing some loving.

 esta terminado (all finished)

Time for face painting.

and play time for the big kids and
the little kids... and George

Pastor Sergio getting in on some American football action.

Playtime never gets old.

Gigi hiding her smile.

The Gamaliel Youth at work with us.
Sooooo cool.

Self explanatory.

Yeah... lots of playing pictures, but our
trip is about relationships, right?

except when the dogs are bothering
Pastor Sergio in the sanctuary.

Our boys aren't quite up to par.

a step behind.

Way behind (loco).

...

Now these kids know how to dance!

So do these!

Amigos.

Amigas.

The dynamic duo at it again.
They told the parable of the talents.

Steven was the rich man.

Kevin, Kendra, and Juan were the servants.

You get a glimpse of the work and fun that goes in to every skit.

Gigi, you're lookin gooooood.

A small and intimate womens group session.

The VBS story review.

Practicing the memory verse
 works better with actions.

Introducing the kind deeds ball game to the kids.

The kids loved bouncing the balls around, but did manage to keep them under control for the most part. They also learned a thing or two.

And it was good.

The end of day train.

That finishes off VBS for this year. It was an amazing few days with all the wonderful children. Lots of love was shared both ways.

I guess Ron forgot to post dinner pictures, but we did eat this evening before being rushed off to the fountain park to cool off.
Ron was hesitant on if he wanted to go or not, but I think he and George were glad that he did go. Gigi not so much.
Stay tuned...
