Trip to Vancouver CNYWC - Nov 7 - 11 PART 2 - Siteseeing

Friday morning.
After a pretty good night's sleep we were up early.
We had the morning free before the start of the conference, so Dan convinced me to do some site seeing.

But...not before some breakfast at McDonald's.

And Coffee from Tim's.
Hotcakes....yummy.

We met Ron (Classical Youth Coordinator in Alberta) and his wife....or maybe they met us,
since we were actually there first.

After breakfast we purchased tickets for our bus.
Here's Dan waiting for the bus and doing what he does best...checking his cell phone for messages from his significant other.... : )

Ah, our bus has arrived.

Over the bridge....

...and a great view.  This picture actually reminds me of  Peru, where homes are built on the sides of sand hills.  Here, they are built on the side of solid rock hill/mountain...and the contrasts don't end there.

After a 30 minute bus ride, we arrived at our destination.

Some exhibits talking about the area's history.

Interesting totem's.

Sure Dan.....you'd be a great match if this bear were actually alive!

So, it's not an unknown fact that I'm not too fond of heights.
And Dan decides to take me to a suspension bridge...what was I thinking!
He wants me to walk on THAT!

Okay...here I go.

I want my mommy!!!  : )
It really wasn't that bad after all.

And what a view!!!

Even with Dan in the picture, the view is still AMAZING...
sorry Dan...couldn't resist.

Someone was nice enough to take a picture of the two of us.

I tried to get the bridge to swing a bit.
It did...a bit.

More great views.

The trees are HUGE here....

Time to go up into the trees.

First, climb the stairs.

Then walk on more bridges.

They were quite high up.

I'm rather enjoying the experience.

So is Dan.

Hmmmm..
Awkward picture.  : )

I'm trying to hug this tree.
Not a chance.

Look at the beauty.

Trees have fallen here, or are cut down when they become dangerous to the public.

Just look at how big they are compared to little ol' me.

That's a long way up!

Dan looks puny too.  : )

If you look WAY up, you will see where we were walking.
Gives me the creebles (is that how you spell it?), just thinking about it.

Dan got some nice pictures of the sun...

and the river...

and some of the signs that were along the way.

A tree actually fell on the suspension bridge at one point.
This is a story of what happened and how the bridge held up.

A wishing board made out of part of that fallen tree.

More awesome pictures by Dan.

Mountains in the clouds.

We eventually finished our time in the old growth forest.
Amazing to see trees that are hundreds of years old.
Time to look at some souvenirs...

and rest....

and then take a walk on the Cliffwalk.
More high places. :(

We started by walking down lots of stairs.

Then it was on to this narrow platform held up by cables drilled into the rocks.

A huge tree that had grown out of the rocks.

Huge!

A good picture of the suspension bridge.

Then came this circular platform...
going around some rocks and held up in a not so nice way.

Dan loved it.

I didn't.

I mean...look...
just cables bolted to this rock!

Looking down from the bridge.
Beautiful, but stomach wrenching.

A glass bottom to step on...
even more disconcerting!!

But, I managed to step onto the platform.

Look at those roots going into the rocks.
Amazing how it works!

More great views.

Dan enjoys heights.

An old, huge tree.

Back in the store.
This is what Dan would like to have hanging in his bedroom.
No, really...it's true!!!

Time to head back to the hotel.

More great views.

How people could ever get tired of these views is beyond me.
