CIA/ ETM Christmas Party - December 3rd

Christmas is almost upon us, and so too, our annual youth group Christmas Party.
That's what this entry will try to help you understand : )

On December 3rd we gathered in the youth room.
I had asked Simon and/or Alexa if they'd be willing to play the keyboard for some carol singing.
They ended up making a brass section and played carols for us.  Here's Miranda on the flute.

Alexa played the Oboe.

Sarah and Laura on the Sax.

Simon played the French Horn.

William played the Trombone.
They sounded very good.
Thanks for adding to the ambiance.  : )

After our singing, I had the group fill out a Christmas quiz.
We'd done it before, but not everyone had done it before.

The questions were not difficult, but they did point out how much we assume about Christmas.  We learned that the angels SAID; they did not SING....and stuff like that.

Here's Sarah thinking pretty hard.

The three stooges.  : )

Once the quiz was complete,
(I ended up frustrating most of the group)
we moved into our gingerbread making time.

Seven gingerbread kits,
seven groups,
seven different ways to put the house together.

Each group did not have to make a gingerbread house if they didn't want to.  Most did, but some didn't.
Here's one group getting things sorted out.
Nice hat Jeannine.  : )

This group is debating what sort of creation to create.

Getting the icing out of the package.
Not as easy as it looks.

Things are starting to take shape.

Ryan took this very seriously.
Apparently he loves to cook/bake.
Who knew? Well, Ryan knew.  : )

Soooo, what's it going to look like?

Hmmmmm....
Stonehenge???  : )

This does NOT look like a house.  : )

The roof being "glued" on with icing.

Kyle made a manger scene.

Hmmmm,
this design will not be a house either...
can you guess what it's going to be?

Sorting through the decorations.

So, what is this going to end up being?

Time to decorate the roof.

This group is still debating.

Laura is getting into things too.

Hmmmm,
an upside-down house?

This group decided to make a house where it blew up and imploded and this is what's left....
at least that's what I think it looks like.

Ryan continuing with his creations.

Oh, I see,
A gingerbread snowman.

Oh, Janika.

Taking shape.

Nice.

Hmmmmm....
Nice???  : )

Seems some people think that Samantha's face needed some icing.

Looking good.

Interesting.

Ah, I think I know what this is going to be now...
do you?

Nice tree.

The end result....
very nicely done.

Nice roof detail.

Interesting final design. : )

You too Chris : )

The end result of the
gingerbread snowman....  : )
I know they will correct me as to what it REALLY is.

The manger scene.

Nicely done.

Back view.

WOW...nicely done too.

Great detail.

Now this group started out with something great, but apparently Nicolette (with one L) knocked it down and they never recovered.

Another great looking house.

This is before Nicolette destroyed this group's fine creation.

Nice job.

Nice job for this group too.  : )

And this group too.  : )

Sigh....

The end result.

Time to clean up all the icing and small decorations.
The rest of the group started on the food.

Lots of great munchies.

Everyone partaking of the scrumptious Christmas snacks.

Jeannine enjoying pumpkin pie.  : )

Ryan being goofy.

Friends gathered together socializing.

Another great Christmas party in the books.
