CIA / ETM R.A.K.E Night - November 19th

This entry falls under our "Missional" night events.
We took some time on November 19th to bless people in different ways.

The evening started out very quiet.

Sarah and I were early, so I took the time to close my eyes for a moment.
Calm before the storm and all that. : )

Sarah took a picture of our wonderful tree.
I like that CIA/ETM tree.

Sarah was once again not in the picture receiving mood.

Soon enough...
The group started to meander in.
Cheryl and Simon seemed to have lots of energy tonight.

Simon won this battle.

On tonight's agenda were three things:
1.  Make cards for seniors in our church.
This group handled that.

They got more serious by getting a table and chairs.

2.  Handing out carnations at 224 Viewmount.

Here's Joan ready to receive us at her door, and to receive carnations from us.
She was quite pleased.  : )

Sorry for the purple wall Joan..
I'm still getting used to how my new camera works.
Joan didn't seem to mind.

The group getting ready to bless more people.

Cheryl putting the broken carnations to good use. : )

2.5  Bless people in 220 Viewmount with carnations.
Here is a happy recipient....

...and another one.

I received a phone call from someone in Viewmount
VERY thankful for the kindness of our youth in giving her some carnations.
It made her week, as it was a hard week for her.
Warm, fuzzy feeling beginning to overwhelm me now.  : )

3.  For those wanting to brave the cold, we did a Rake n Run.  This group went door to door and offered to rake the lawns of people.

Apparently, not too many people wish to receive the kindness of strangers. Many no's, but a couple of yes'.

At this house no one seemed to be home...so we raked the leaves anyway. There were LOTS of leaves to do...we lightened the load for them.

The group had fun...and stayed warm.

When I got back from picture taking these girls had made many wonderful cards.
I mailed many of them out a couple of weeks later.

Here is Ben showing Jonathan and Joey some magic tricks.
They finished their carnation distribution early.

All in all a wonderful night where our youth could do something positive for others in the name of Jesus.
We now let God work in the hearts of those we touched.
