CIA/ETM Food Scavenger Hunt - September 24th

This year we have changed things up a bit in our youth ministry.  We are using a 4 week rotation in the following way:
Week #1 - CIA - Regular night with Bible Study
                ETM - Catechism instruction

Week #2 - Activity night - Something fun
                Both CIA and ETM

Week #3 - TACO night (Take A CIA member Out)
                Mentor night for CIA
                ETM - Catechism instruction

Week #4 - Mission night
                Both CIA and ETM

If there's a 5th Tuesday, no meeting and Youth Leaders and myself meet for training and/or social time to continue to deepen our relationships.

And note, we don't always follow the weeks in order. Sometimes we need to change things up to match other ministries going on at the church.  But we try to do 1 of these a month.

This entry covers a week #4 - Mission night.  We went out into the community and did a food scavenger hunt.  What is a food scavenger hunt?  Well, you try to get certain kinds of food stuffs and each food stuff is worth points.  The group with the most points wins.

Here is one group sorting through the food they received.

Other groups came in and did the same.

People had lots of fun going through their bags of food.
It was interesting to hear the reactions of people.
Some wanted to donate all kinds of food, others didn't want to participate at all.  Such is the nature of community work at times.

The group that won for the evening, and behind them all the food collected by all the groups.... filling our donation bin to overflowing.  All this food went to the Caldwell Family Centre food bank....there is always a great need for food there.
We hope to do this event again in the springtime.

After we were finished collecting, we went downstairs to have our snack...and what a snack it was.  Once a year Cheryl makes these wonderful pizza's with chocolate and fruit.....amazing!....too bad it's only once a year.  : )

Thanks to all our youth who went out and gathered food for our local area food bank.
