Thanksgiving 2014 @ Calvin and Smoked Chicken.... : )

Over the years at Calvin we have hosted a Thanksgiving lunch for those individuals and families who are not able to celebrate Thanksgiving with family.

The event is always appreciated.
We try to change things up a bit sometimes, and this year I think we went all out.  : )

I have heard about Colin's smoker over the past months and how he makes such delicious smoked chicken.
So I decided to ask him if he'd be willing to make some of that delicious smoked chicken for our lunch.
He agreed.
Here you see the smoker (and Colin too of course : ) )

Apparently people got a whiff of the aroma of the smoker, because after church a crowd began to gather around it.

Questions of how it works, etc. began to emerge.

As you can see,
The chicken sits in the smoker on levels.
A pretty neat invention.

The final product.
Colin taste testing...
I offered, but he declined.  : )

Roast potatoes and smoked chicken.
Delightful.

Seems a crowd is gathering again.
We needed to take the chicken off the bone, so David helped (and I see Chris is offering advice on how David should be doing it : ) )
We didn't throw the bones away, however.
They will be/were used to make soup.
We took some home and used them.
They bring the soup alive!

The group assembled that stuck around for lunch.

A bit larger than other groups.
hmmmm, I wonder if that smoked chicken had anything to do with it?   : )

After prayer we lined up for some great food.

Well, not all of us did.
I let the ladies go first...
as it should be.  : )

Finally the guys are let loose.  : )

Everyone has their food, and is thoroughly enjoying the smoked chicken.  It melted in your mouth.
No Really!
Amazing.

After our meal we took some time to share what we were thankful for.  Some touching things were said.

And then, it was time to clean up.
Thanks to all those who helped.
Thanks Colin for making the smoked chicken.
Definitely bringing that back next year.  : )
Just a heads up Colin.
