Classis Eastern Canada Fall Retreat @ Circle Square Ranch 2014 - Part 3

Welcome back.
Part 3.
High ropes time.

A couple of our instructors.

We start with harnessing up.

Then we are instructed in how to
help others get up on the course, etc.

And how not to get up on the course.  : )

There's me...recording all this for posterity.  : )

Time for Chris to climb.

Time to fight for honour.

Hey, this is a pretty cool picture.

I don't know who won.

Simon's turn.

He tackled a different sort of course.

He did quite well.

So, who's next?

Michelle and Christine.

Each ended up helping the other to make it to the top.

It's not easy by any means.
But they made it, eventually.  : )

Two great friends....
but wait till they get on the course.
Things certainly change then!

Soooo..... yes, I'm recording things from the side of the projector screen.  Seems it broke during the taping of my playing "gaga-ball".  Only worked with the screen reversed and closed.  I did manage to record everything from the weekend before it completely busted.  Whew!

Jonathan's turn.

That's just a wee bit TOO high for me.  : )

Seems Chris wants to pester Jonathan.  : )

"Leave me ALONE!"  : )

Two cold individuals.
But they wanted to watch.

Alexa and Carraugh about to dual.

Seems Alexa won.
It wasn't pretty.  : )

Actually, watch the video of the grand duo, as well as Chris crawling along way up high.  : )

Still friends though.

Alexa and Jeannine going up the obstacle course.

At times they helped each other....at times not.

Almost there.

Yea Alexa!

Now time to help Jeannine.

Yeah Jeannine!

A final battle with Alexa and
I believe it's Jeannine, but not sure.

After a great afternoon, it was time for dinner!

Everyone lining up.

Another great meal.

Lots of time to socialize.

After dinner Caralynn gets some practice in.  : )

And John is getting ready for the evening show.
Mustard....ketchup....this can't be good, but I'm looking forward to it.  : )

We are gathered once again.

Hey Kyle.  Nice tonsils.

Hmmmm,
I look a wee bit angry there, don't I ?
Not true!

William ready to go.

Time to call the group to order.

After some worship, it was time for THE FIDGETS' big show.
Lots of fun!

Reuben was put through his paces.

They used him to portray different situations by telling a story and then yelling "freeze" and then a new person would come in and continue the story in a different direction....

...until someone would yell "freeze" and so on.

Riding a motorcycle

On a rollercoaster

CPR?    : )

Take a look at a short clip

Then there was the 'sound effects' game.  These two on the right would give the sound effects as the story was being told.  Some were hilarious!

Hmmmmmm, I wonder what sort of sound effect is being done here....bahahahahahaha.
No really, I don't think that was it.

A new game was putting electrodes on John
and having Dave run a current through them
so John's muscles would twitch uncontrollably.
The results were, shall we say....great!

Trying to put relish on a hotdog....

...and mustard...

...and ketchup...

...and then feeding Chris.

Seems John tried to feed himself too.
Not toooooo successful.

Intermission.

Another new game was to strap mannequin arms to a person, in this case Jeannine, and have her feed Chris.

As you can see, it's not that easy.

But it was fun to watch.

I think we almost drowned Chris
when Jeannine tried to give him a drink.

Still needs some fine tuning, but it shows promise.  : )

We ended our evening with song.

Some of the group wanted to try the electrodes.

Reuben is trying to control his arm.

On your face Reuben?
Really!!?

After our FIDGET time, we had some more games planned.
I swept the floor first.
We were going to be using it to get up close and personal.

Nice profile Jonathan.

I have no idea what these guys are doing.

Paper airplane contest time.

They went pretty far.

Arm wrestle matches.

What are you DOING!!!!  : )

The limbo.

Awe, almost.

John's just putting on that face.

Jeannine...what's wrong?
You don't look impressed.

Peter, observing as usual.

Hair braiding.

Doing ok Sarah?

Pulling too tight?

Caralynn looks happy still.

Selfie

Time to judge the braids.
Why are guys doing the judging?
Just askin'

Who won?

Sarah's cute rain boots.

Someone's equally cute socks.

Nice hair Sarah.
They did a great job.

Hey Michelle.

Chris and Elayna....
looking pretty normal if you ask me.  : )

A bit of a talent show.
Simon juggling.

He did pretty good.

So did he.

She....not so much.  : )
But, GOOD try.

Chris' idea of reverse juggling.

aka....bouncing the ball.

Really Chris?

Nice job.

Joe, our fearless game leader.

Whoa.....hey there Caralynn!

Someone looks comfortable...
...just one though.

Linked braids...with Carraugh weaving her way
into the group.

Elayna.....
AGAIN!!!!

Hey, where'd you come from...?

Neat picture.

You gotta wonder what's going through Chris' mind
right now....."squirrel!!"

Pyramid building.

Looks difficult on that bottom row.

After games it was snack time again.

We went to bed at midnight and before you knew it,
it was 8 a.m. again.  Good morning everyone!!

Sarah, Jeannine...smile.

We opened our Sunday morning with THE FIDGETS again.
The game...Pick a pose.

Either arms up, or arms down.....you had to guess if the picture was going to be showing arms up or down.

These guys didn't stand a chance.

Getting to the finalists.

I think Alexa lost, but she'll correct me if I was wrong.

Ah, then time for more games.
I was put into this one.
The scene is we are auditioning for parts and we are on the Titanic, and I am to play Rose.
I am to sing my lines.
Dave is Jack and I am torn because William (Chris) who is very rich who is someone I like too.
I played a girl who was supposed to use songs as a way to talk to my one true love...Dave.

Hard to keep a straight face with this guy and he spits when he talks too...gross!

But it was lots of fun.

Have a look at what actually happened.  : )

Though my daughter doesn't look
too impressed with me.  : )

Final game involved having John and Dave manipulated by a person, in this Case Deb for John, and Laura for Dave.  They would only move if they were moved.
Again, hilarious.

The crowd loved it.

It took time to get them to the actual pose they were looking for.

Hope your back is okay John.

Laura....you're doing just fine.  : )

Trying to get Dave to walk.

The mummy lives!!!!

Your stomach and face hurt sometimes
because you laughed so much.

Time for worship again.

Thanks to our youth praise team for their ability
to lead us in worship so well.

I was the last speaker for the weekend.
I shared a bit of my life "story" and then asked the group to consider a twist on an old question.
Usually we are asked, "If you could ask God one question, what would that question be?"
I turned that around and asked everyone to consider this, "If God could ask YOU a question or two, what would they be?"
And then:  Why did you pick that/those question(s)?

I gave them some time to think, and then I put them into their youth groups to share.
Some good stuff came out of that time.
Wish I could have given that one more time.

After that, it was time to thank various people:
THE FIDGETS for coming.
Calvin's Youth Praise Team and our guest drummer.
Joe and company for games.
John and Deb for registration.
All our youth leaders and adults for coming.
Joe and Dan for speaking (and me too:) )
and our youth for coming.

Before lunch we always have a group picture.
Here's one where we are almost ready.

Less ready.

Maybe ready?

Dave's Ready?

Finally ready!!!

And the next sequence of shots are us moving as the camera takes nine quick pics.

Done.  !!!!

We ended with brunch.

Thanks Circle Square Ranch for another great weekend!

We hope to be back again next year!
