Calvin's Christmas Party 2014

Tis the season of Christmas.
With that comes Calvin's tradition of celebrating Christmas with a Christmas Party.
This would be our 8th or 9th, I believe???

Sponsored by our Fellowship Committee, we gather early to set things up.

David is dutifully folding the invitation cards that go on the plates.

Jason is resting after all that hard work of setting up.  : )

We had some YP come to help set up as well.
Done in record time this year.

Starting to look a lot like Christmas.  : )

And then there's Daniel.
Strange boy, he is.  : )

Waiting for the guests to arrive brings out strange antics from younger folk.

Cheryl and David working on games for the party.

The finished product.
On the menu for tonight:
Coffee, Tea, Hot Apple Cider, Cold Punches, and potluck and desserts.

Looks nice once again.
Presentation is everything you know.  : )

At 6:00 pm the guests start to arrive.

The youth and young adult table.

All of us sitting down ready to go.

Getting the food ready to eat.
There was lots again.

Ladies eat first.  : )

Great conversations around the tables as we wait for food.

The almost all grade 7 table.

Wilma to her son, "Now Daniel....behave or you won't get your present tonight.....  : ) "

Ben, there's that corny face again.

The best part of the party is the food.

Everyone sittig down and enjoying the really good food.

Lots of red at this table.....Peter, Where's your RED?? oh yeah, the red t-shirt.

Ella, nice face.

Our gift table for our gift exchange.

Everyone enjoying their meal.
Time to digest with some games.

Cheryl took the stage to walk us through two games.

The first one involved actual walking.
She listed some things and we had to move to a spot where we either liked that thing, didn't like that thing, or didn't care about that thing.
For example, attending family Christmas gatherings...you decide where you'd move.  : )

Oh, the Christmas tree.  Looks nice tonight.
Yes, it's missing the star.
Too tall of a tree to put on.  : )

Time for our second game.

Christmas Pictionary.

We broke up into 4 groups.
Those groups formed two teams of two.
Each team had 1 minute to guess as many Christmas related things that were drawn.

David kept time.

Sarah, what are you drawing?

Quick, next person.....

Hmmm, Caralynn must be thinking what to draw...
but there's so little time.  : )

Evert, is that a snow man?

Daniel, nice wooden shoes.  : )

Joycegina begins her drawing...

and has to draw a lot before people guessed "Christmas Party".

Sonja's Turn

Wilma, not much room left on that page.

Bonnie drawing...hmmmm...a reindeer????

Go Bill, Go!!

Ben, really getting into it.

Wilma's turn.
The game was a blast.
I don't think we've had that much noise at one of our parties.

And before we knew it, it was time for dessert.

All that walking and drawing made me hungry again.  : )

So, Jason brought some cupcakes.
He thought no one would want them.

This group took them all, pretty much. : )

That left other items for us....whew.  : )

After dessert it was time to clear back the tables and set up for our gift exchange game/time.

Jason needed to count how many people we had.
He begins.

He continues, and then someone talked to him.....

....and he had to start all over again.  : )

The game works by having a number called out.
That person gets up and grabs a gift, OR may decide to take a gift from someone who already has a gift.  That person who's gift was taken may then take from another person, or get a gift from the middle.

Katrina gets a gift from the middle.

It's an LED flashlight I think.

Eric inspects gifts already unwrapped to see if he wants that verses what in the middle, still wrapped.

Annette decides to go for a wrapped gift.
More mystery in it I think.  : )

I can't tell what she got...can you....??

Christine unwrapping a gift (not necessarily going to stay with her gift.)

A flower (from Annet I presume?)  : )

Now Amy ended up unwrapping many gifts.  For some reason people wanted whatever she unwrapped. Go Figure.

Rosy, what is it?

It's popcorn!!

Hmmmm....the suspense, eh David.

Oh, those cute bottles of Coke and Gingerale.  I love those.

Daniel's turn.

He looks excited.

I forget what it was he got.

Now here's a good story.
Jason got a fish Christmas tree ornament.
I liked the look...he...not so much. : )

Eventually Cheryl took it off his hands, to his relief.

But then, low and behold, he opens up a BBQ Christmas tree ornament.

Too funny.

After all was said and done, we ended our time with some Carol Singing.
They sounded good.

Thanks to all who came out once again to celebrate. Without you it would have been no fun.

Another great Fellowship Event.
Thanks for organizing Cheryl and David and Jason and Megan and others of our YP.

Stay tuned for more fellowship events in the new year.
