Clean up at Gilbey Park - Saturday, October 1st

Some time ago, Ministry Board adopted Gilbey Park.  We use the park often during the summer times after church and for picnics, and someone brought up the idea to adopt it, so, voila, we did.

Our first clean up day was Saturday, October 1st.  A group of about 15 Calvinites came out to assist.

Here is Martin snooping around the trees for garbage.

Eric came out too.  He arrived 1/2 hour before me.  I thought it started at 9:30, and others thought it started at 9:00 am.  It was cold and windy, so I was ok with being a bit late.  : )

Here are Nick and Margaret gathering garbage out of the ravine.

Olivia was a non compliant participant.  : )  Apparently it has something to do with not getting breakfast if you didn't come along to help out........  : )

Chris, Nicolette, and Jonah helping out.

As I was walking up the park trail I bumped into Simon, Miranda, and Sandy.  They had just finished picking pop cans out from the trees.

Jason found the mother load of garbage in the back of the park.  His daughter, Adele, helped take lots of garbage out of the back.

Cheryl was hiding in this big tree, but I happened to hear her huffing and puffing, so I snapped this picture of her.

A small pile of garbage began to accumulate by the church building.  The city would come by in a day or two to collect it.

It seems that Cheryl picked up something gross and now needs to wash her hands.

Nicolette is helping Adele roll up her sleeves.  They kept getting in the way as she tried to pick up things.

Now this was funny.  As you may know from previous blog entries, Wilma and Megan have kept me/us waiting at times to depart for youth events.  It seems that Saturday's and Sunday's are days to take one's time and arrive when one arrives.  This morning, Wilma, Megan and Amy arrived at 10 am, just as we were done.  I laughed.

I invited them to stick around for donuts and coffee, but for some reason they dissappeared.  hmmmm   : )

The rest of us did come into the church and enjoyed coffee, juice and donuts.   First we had to fill in some forms, and it looks like Eric's son doesn't care at all about that....he wants food.  : )

Adele's father purchased the donuts, so Adelle figured she could take one, or two, first.  : )

We didn't want to mess up the church fellowship hall, so we sat in the entrance way and enjoyed some fellowship as we relaxed.

Jason and I thank all of you who came out this morning to help clean up Gilbey park.   In the spring we'll be doing it again, so stay tuned.......
