On Saturday, February 16th we held another fundraiser. This one was the brainchild of Bea VM. The team held a coffee house. The front of Calvin's sanctuary was cleared, mats were laid down to protect the floor and the piano was moved front and centre.

Several couches and tables were placed on the stage and below it.

In the fellowship hall tables were set up with different kinds of flavoured "fair trade" coffee. Lots of homemade snacks were prepared by the team as well.

Fred Lacroix, a member of our congregation, and very gifted concert pianist, was set to play the piano from 7 - 9 pm.

Guests began arriving at 6:30 pm. You could tell that many of them were very surprised at the offerings of coffee's, tea's and goodies. : )

Tables filled with coffee percs and signs showing different kinds of delicious coffees and teas. People tried several different kinds of coffee's. Some coffee's required whipped creame, chocolate, caremal, and even all three. They were scrumptious.

As people continued to arrive, they settled down in the fellowship hall with their initial orders. Fred arrived just before 7 pm, settled down at the piano, and began to play. People slowly trickled into the sanctuary (they had to be told they could actually bring food and drink into the sanctuary, as this is not the norm) : )

Everyone was enthrawled as Fred burned the ivory off the piano keys. Fred took requests throughout the evening, and even played Peruvian music.

It was a wonderful time for all who attended. We raised just over $1,100 after expenses.

We were all tired after the event. Especially those who had to carry those couches up and down the stairs.

Thanks for the great idea Bea. Thanks for all the planning you did as well. We hope to hold another one in the future. Right Bea : ) !!!
