Arrived in Toronto OK

Hello all,

So here I sit. Connected to the internet in the Toronto Airport. Low speed internet, so it's like being back in the dark ages. : )

Things have gone well so far. I arrived at the Ottawa airport around 9:00 AM. The first others to arrive were Leah and Carmen. A wonderful Air Canada employee booked us all into the system. Once all the tickets were done, we all checked our baggage. Marg H. is doing well with her broken foot still on the mend. Even used a wheelchair for a bit of the trip with Magaret V pushing her along.

We all did the group picture thingy before going through security. Some moms shed some tears as their young ones embarked on their trip of independence. Don't worry, they are in good hands : )

As we waited to board, the group began to settle down. Some playing Dutch blitz, others sipping either Tim's coffee or Second Cup. Some read, while others just walked around. Many were getting excited about the flight. Some have not flown before (right Shawn).

We boarded the plane no problem. A new one and fairly large. I sat beside my son. He took my window seat. Shawn sat behind him at a window seat. It was like watching two kids in a candy shop. Excited to no end.

The flight was pretty uneventful.

oh, gotta go. the food lineup is going down and I have to order. Be back soon to finish this blog and put a few pictures up.

Well, back again.

Enjoyed a quick bite at a burger joint here. Had to wait 1 hour in line as a flight from Hong Kong was cancelled and that flight got food vouchers for this restaurant pretty much.

So, where was I?

Oh yes, we were on the flight to Toronto. It was fun to watch all of us in the plane. We weren’t all sitting together, unfortunately. Holly was just in front of us, but next to a stranger. Bethany had the same problem. But for the most part, all of us did just fine. Ashlyn buried herself in a book and never took her nose out of it the whole flight. Others talked with each other over the dull roar of the engines. We were served one drink, and then it was time to descend.

As we disembarked, I found our gate to wander to. Gate 178. After what seemed like a 35 minute walk (well, we did cheat and took the walking escalators quite a bit) we arrived near our gate. We had to go through several security doors before we got there, but we are pretty much all here now. Some are staying in the main concourse area to get lunch, a much better choice than for those of us who didn’t.

The group has been snapping LOTS of pictures with LOTS of digital camera’s, so don’t worry about not getting to see some good shots. The best ones will be from John B of course, oh, sorry about that Jeremy.

A new crop of our group has just arrived. They are looking over my shoulder, wondering what I’m typing. Ruth is lamenting her seating arrangement. We didn’t all get to sit together, but we’ll see what we can do about getting ourselves together a bit more.

In about 1/ ½ hours we board the plane and the excitement starts all over again for some. I don’t think they’ll be as excited once we land at 1:00 am in Lima, but one never knows.

The snow has begun to fall very gently now. It makes the concrete maze of the tarmac look much nicer. I hope you all in Ontario have fun digging out tomorrow. We will be in 25 degree Celsius dry weather, but we will be MUCH tireder (bad English) than you will be.

Joycegina, I love you and hope Katrina is doing well. Give Sarah and Katrina a good hug and a kiss from me tonight.

You’ll hear more from me tomorrow D.V. from Lima.

Blessings to you.

P.S. Someone emailed me the top two pictures of John and Annette saying goodbye, and Hannah too. I just had to put them in. Sorry John : )
