Ottawa SERVE 2016 - Day 2 - Part 2: Participants Arrive

Welcome to part 2.
After check in we did some fun games together.
But first they need to be explained.

Now I can't say I knew what was going on in all of them.
This one had to do with cups and strings.

During this time the praise team practiced.

And Annette chilled out.

Hmmmm,  I'd say Annette is a bit of a ham, but maybe that's more like WHAM! : )

Mark and Juliette hanging out.
Yes, they are an item. : )

Back to the cups and strings again.

Looked like fun.

Then we did a game called "Wrap the Villain".  Well, that's what I called it.
Myself and some others volunteered to be wrapped in streamers.

Joanna

Janine

Me

That stuff is actually quite warm when you have it wrapped around you many times over.

The end product.

I look quite handsome if I do say so.
Now the groups switched and they unwrapped us all. The idea being not to rip the streamers.

When that game was done, we had 6 different stations and did some fun stuff.

Ball toss.

Building a foam building and then destroying it.

Putting your hand in the bag and trying to guess what was in it.

hmmmm, what to do with all that streamer material eh Abbey?

Time to destroy the building with pool noodles.

Nerf gun shooting

Hulla hoop course.

Zack loved this game.

Guess how many candies are in the jar.

Oh, hello Melanie.
I did say I'd be putting this picture in the blog.
And I wasn't kidding.

But I also said I'd be putting this one in too. : )

Hey Lisa.
She so enjoys SERVE week.

More pics of the activities.

And then, before you knew it, it was time for dinner.

Meatloaf.  yummy.  :)

Just look at that presentation.

We have a lot of people here now.  : )

Enjoying the meal.

John.  Another ham in the group.
hmmmmm, he and Annette are related....hmmmm

After dinner it was time for our first small group time.

And then it was time for our Speaker, Mark, to introduce our them for the week.  The poster says it all.

Apparently Pastor Ron has built a bat cave and loves superheros.

He loves them so much, he even dresses up as Superman!!!

The kids were having fun with this.  : )
I had to pose for the camera.
Why not.

Mark and I bantered back and forth for a while, and then I relaxed and listened to as story to introduce or theme.

Jesus is our Super hero.
He was even born in a king sized bed.

And then it was time for our closing set of songs.

John found the batman cape.

More actions to the songs.

Quite a crowd this evening.
If any of you wish to join us, we gather at 6:30 p.m. each evening.

John leading the songs with his batman cape.

Will Pastor Ron figure out what makes Jesus such a super hero?  Only time will tell.

Each evening after worship time we have a craft time.
Shirley and Sue showed us what will be done.

The end result should look like this.

Mark having fun getting to know the participants.
He has such a gift in bringing out the best in them.

Hey, almost forgot, Olivia will be doing video once again.
Thanks Olivia.

Crafts starting to take shape.

How's it going Ryan.

John loves this sort of stuff

Going well.

After craft we had snack and then it was time to get ready for bed.
Once everyone was tucked in, the Mentors met for a bit to share the day and figure out tomorrow.

A GREAT start to SERVE week.
It rained tonne's today, but we were able to be inside warm and dry.
We will see what tomorrow brings us.

I end with two video clips of yours truly having fun at SERVE.

Enjoy.
