Calvin's Youth Praise Team and Baseball Team - Do the two go together?

Youth Praise Team and Baseball Team

Over the past years I have had the joy of being able to participate in worship with our Youth Praise Team.  The joy of getting to know them and practice with them has been great, but one of the downfalls of Youth Ministry is that young people graduate and move on.

Such is the case for several in our team this year.
We say good-bye to Hannah, and Megan and Rosy, and also Peter.

We hope to be joined by Simon and Alexa in September, so the team will continue with a new flavour.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Hannah and Rosy and Peter and Megan for many years of great practices and times of worship at Calvin.  It has been a pleasure and I hope you will continue using your gift of music playing in new places in the future, if not back at Calvin one day.  : )

Here is the team practicing together for one of the last times.

Thanks for lots of great memories.
You have been a great blessing to Calvin.

Calvin's Baseball Team

Baseball.
A sport that some like to play, and others like to simply stay away [from].

Well, for those Christians who like to play, there is a church league in Ottawa and Calvin is participating in it for its second year.  I really enjoy the Friday evening games (though I've missed a few too many this season already) and the fellowship.

Stuart is our coach and Christine is a great assistant coach.  We have been doing better this season, winning a few games.  Below are some pics that Peter took at one of our recent games.  Enjoy.

Andy, our quiet, yet steady player.

Cheryl.  Always runs a KM before we play to loosen up.

Christine - a great team spirit.

Chris - our umpire.

I play first sometimes, sometimes third base, sometimes back catch, and occasionally pitcher.  Whatever the coach wants, we do.  : )

Swing George...swing.

Megan, getting better each game.

Mike - quiet, but quick.

Phil - a great outfielder.

My form could be better, but I hit the occasional good one.  : )

Rosy - always smiling.

Sandy - a great short stop and outfielder.

Simon - getting better each game.

The team between innings.
There are others on the team who didn't make the picture cut, but together we all seem to have fun, and that is more important than winning all the time. :)

Thanks for coaching Stuart.
I think we have a chance at the playoff this year.
Looking forward to it.
