High Ropes - May 23rd

On Saturday, May 23rd, 29 people trekked to Lafleche Adventure Park to once again go High Roping. It was a mixture of young people and parents again. We added the extreme zip lines this time. The weather was perfect. Not too hot, not too cold. The bugs were certainly plentiful as well. Below are many pictures with some comments by yours truly to help you figure out what's going on. The names have NOT been changed to protect the guilty : ) !!!
We began the day by accumulating everyone in the fellowship hall and praying together to start the day of right. Here are some of the guys looking macho...or something like that : ) .
The hardest part of the day is putting the harness on. You have to get it on just right, right Hannah!!
Some of the gang waiting for final instructions. Apparently John borrowed this nice yellow hat. Keep a tight grip on it eh John......ask him about his hat sometime : )
Chris thought the carabeeners (not sure you spell it, and I'm not going to look for the right spelling either) would look pretty good on his ears.
Apparently so did Brian. Hmmmm, looks like Chris and Brian have the same twisted sense of humor.
Everyone in line waiting for final adjustments. Everything needs to fit comfortably now, because 3 hours in an uncomfortable harness is NOT a good thing, right Jonah.
You just have to wonder what Bethany and Melanie are thinking in this moment. Looks pretty deep.
Michael and Ken on the course.
Hannah on the course too, but she seems to be a bit nervous or something. Go figure....she did it last year too!
Leah getting comfortable with the course again.
An exchange student from Germany was staying with Leah's family. She came along and enjoyed the day with us.
Now that does NOT look very comfortable Brian.
Caleb has just realized that looking down might not be such a good idea.
Graham doing the tight rope wire.
Chris was having a moment. "I'm not moving, and you can't make me!" David waits for him patiently.
Jacob had a great time on the course, though he seems to be holding on rather tightly in this picture.
Looks like a bunch of ants moving up a tree branch. Move along everyone! Up, up and away.......
Jonah really enjoyed himself. Apparently he did the course twice. Going back and forth on each element because no one was waiting before or behind him.
Chad had never been on the course before, but makes himself at home very quickly. You have to get Janine to do the course this year Chad.
Tracey, Wilma, and I were the last on the course for our group. Thankfully there was no one behind us. Wilma behaved herself this year, getting no warnings. Good thing I was with them though. Seems that both of them forgot some key elements in high roping, which could have proven to be not so healthy for them. The course does take concentration, all the way through.
Hey, these YP are breaking the rules. What were they again. 3 on a platform, 2 on an element, and only 1 on a zip line. How many are on this platform??????
Hannah, on your back, or crawling through. Which is the best way to get through those barrels.......seems like you preferred crawling.
This element was the hardest for me, and not liked by many. They did take out the stirrups this year. Apparently too many people needed rescuing. I was happy they took it out.!!
This is an interesting picture. Notice the spikes in the hollow trunk.
There were many zip line elements. Bethany enjoys this section.
Makusi is contemplating taking this extreme zip line. They were VERY high. You are beyond the point of no return Makusi. You might as well close your eyes, scream, and go!
Apparently, that's what he did. You can barely see him in the middle.
Now some of us come to these course to experience the elements and be challenged by them. Others of of seem to have that relationship, relationship, relationship thing down to a science, but are practicing it at the WRONG time. Take John and Brian for instance here. Notice the back log of people asking them to stop talking and get moving! : ) Well, maybe that's not quite what is happening here, but it's a great way to interpret this picture, don't you think?
Chris caught in the spider's web. I'll save you son!!!
A great view of what it's like from the extreme zip line. It's VERY high....and I DON'T like heights.
Rosalynn takes the extreme zip line plunge.
John took this picture as he took the last zip line over the parking lot. Nice shoes John!
Fontanna had a good time, but was glad to be done the course. Here she is on the final zip line.
Megan is always shy when it comes to camera shots. She even manages to avoid having her face on a picture without even knowing it.
Hey, that's me. I had a good time on the course again too. Even the extreme zip lines, but it sure was HIGH. Another good lesson in facing our/my fears.
Hmmm, I wonder who's eye this is? Any guesses?
All in all, another great day in the trees and good fellowship together too. If we go again next year, maybe you want to come along too? All you have to be is over 5 feet tall. Oh, and below is a short video of Chad on the extreme zip lines. Just to give you a flavor of what it's like. : ) Enjoy.
