Pastor Ron's Sabbatical - Entry #6: Retreat at Finger Lakes

After the Big give Joycegina and took a trip to the Finger Lakes in New York State.

We stopped for lunch at Bob Evan's.

The food was great. : )

As we neared our destination we stopped for groceries, as the cabin we were staying in had a full kitchen.

The Finger lakes are beautiful.

We arrived at  LeTourneau Christian Camp in the afternoon.
At first we couldn't get in the cabin.  We did try  : ), as they said it would be unlocked.

We found a wonderful man working in the camp shop.
Originally a Canadian, but had been working at this camp for decades.
He got us into the cabin.

The camp is situated on a hill, pretty much, and our cabin was at the top of the hill.
We got in but found that the heat wasn't working, and in reality, we weren't too fond of the location (something that happens when you book online sometimes : ) )

A view from the outside of the cabin.

Well, it just so happened that someone from the camp drove up to see how we were doing, and found out that the heat wasn't working.  She also informed us that there was another cabin available on the water front, and they just had a cancellation so would we want to use it instead?
YUP!  : )
We packed up the little we had unpacked and headed down the hill.  : )

This was much better.  A bit smaller, but on the water and had a screened in porch.
Thank you Lord for cancellations.

The inside. Living room.

 Kitchen.

Narrow Hallway

One of two bedrooms

Porch.

Pano of the area.

 And of the waterfront.
As you can see it's cloudy.
Was for most of our stay.

Relax time.

Here's the camp.
I found it online.
Never heard of it before, but it offered free stays for Pastors so I figured, hey, let's give it a try. :)

A lodge that was situated beside our cabin.

The camp is divided by this road.

The main office.

In the summer they are very busy with kids coming to camp.  Here's the dining hall where they eat and meet.

View from the top of the hill.

While here we relaxed and read.
I read a couple more books. (here's proof).
hmmmm, maybe this is where I got the idea of a recliner in my office.  : )

We played scrabble as well.

We took some walks along the road.
Some very nice homes on the waterfront.

A sunny day.  One of the few.

More nice homes.

Relaxing outside, enjoying the sound of the water.

Joycegina beating me at scrabble.  : (

Nice sunset.

And before we knew it, it was time to head home.

This one's for you Colin.  : )

And we stopped at one of our favourite places to eat.

Eat your heart out Andy.  : )
Was a nice relaxing and refreshing time away.
