Pastor Ron's Sabbatical - Entry #5: The Big Give and Youth Room Tree

On Saturday, June 3rd Calvin gathered once again to participate in the Ottawa wide THE BIG GIVE. 
This would be our 3rd one. 
We added a free car wash this year. 
That's why I showed up.  
To assist the youth group in washing cars.  

We used my car as the test car. 
Why not!  : ) 

We repeated many of last year's things as well. 

The prayer tent.  
Seems like Pastor Craig is trying to drum up business.  : ) 

Jenga was a hit again.  

And the bicycle repair tent was steady all day. 

Lots of stuff to give away for free.  
Lots of takers.

She does such a great job at that.

We were hopping all day long.  : ) 

Some nice bikes came to be repaired.  
Doug and company do an awesome job at fixing them. 

The cars just kept coming.  

Rather than try to get the cars to come in off the road, I decided to just ask those coming in to check things out if they wanted their car washed for free. 
Lots of takers that way.  : ) 

Jenga is rated E for EVERYONE : )

Enjoying the day.  

We had a live band again too. 
A nice touch. 
In the break times, we used music from playlists.

This is a social time as well.

Well, most of the car washers were young.

And a bit inventive on getting at the roof of the cars.

I'm amazed it does, but it does.

Youth Group Family Tree

In our youth room we have a tree on a wall. 
It was put there many years ago with the intent of putting the names of our past YP who had been in attendance since my coming to Calvin. 

Well, let's just say it has taken a while for this to happen. 
BUT, this past May, our Youth Pastor Intern, Victoria, used her great penmanship and placed the names of everyone who has gone through YP on the tree leaves.   

With the youth leaders at the bottom of the tree. 
This is round 2, as I forgot a couple the first time around.
