Calvin Christmas Dinner 2012

On Saturday, November 24th, Calvin hosted another Christmas Party for its congregants.  Each year we get a different group of people coming, with some regulars.  This year was no different.

Jason and I spent the afternoon setting things up.  Presentation is everything you know.  : ) The tables turned out well again.

Here is a wide angel shot of the room.  All we need now are the guests.

Our beverage table.  This year we once again had hot apple cider, various cold punches, and coffee and tea.

Here's Jason putting on the last minute touches to his Christmas games.  We tried, again, to keep things as non-argumentative as possible.  People can get really opinionated about Christmas facts.  : )

The gift exchange table.  I wonder how many gifts contain chocolate?

Jason opened up our evening together.  We sang some Christmas Carols and opened with prayer.

Red was sure the theme at this table.

If you look real close, you'll see Leo's Christmas tie.  I think this is the ONLY place he wears it.  : )

Nice hat Sarah.

Jason had us do a game before dinner.  It involved drawing the different Christmas Carol titles (not all of them of a sacred nature as Evert pointed out...again and again.... : ) ) and then guessing them.  What a hoot!

Some were quite difficult to draw, but everyone managed.

Hey, Peter, didn't you get the memo about wearing something red or green....or is that green you are wearing...hmmm

The younger crowd having just as difficult a time as the more "mature" crowd.  : )

Come on Annet, you can do it.

Cathy's explaining the concept of the drawing, I think.  Modern art and all.  : )

After the games, it was time for food.

Once again, the variety and quantity was amazing.  I think everyone was satisfied.

Everyone enjoying the meal and fellow shipping together.

Potlucks always take a while to get everyone to eat, but that's part of the fun.

I wonder what Rosy is talking about....hmmmm

A great mixing of the generations as this table.  Adrian, 2nd from right, just loves coming to our Christmas dinners.  He's a hoot, especially during the gift exchange. You need to watch out for his swinging cane.  :)

Bonnie getting her dessert ready.  My favourite.

This one looks amazing as well.

Everyone busy in the kitchen getting their desserts ready.  Also part of the fun of a potluck.

Evert and Al seemed to be the first to taste test the desserts.  : )

And finally, after all the food, desserts, coffee and punch, we gathered together in a LARGE circle for our gift exchange.  I always find this the most fun part of the evening.

Everyone had a super time.  Lots of great conversation and laughter together.  Thanks Jason, for all your help in organizing once again.  See you all next year...D.V. and maybe a few new people too.....  : )
