Ontario Youth Ministry Team

For many years now Ontario has held a convention on the long weekend in May called, appropriately "The All Ontario Convention."    I have gone to several of these as a young person, and several as a Youth Pastor as well.  They always prove to be wonderful, though not all youth groups in Ontario attend.

The All Ontario has been seeking charitable status, as well as a bit more accountability as a planning team, and the solution was to place the All Ontario under the direction of the CRCNA - Canada.

A governing body called the "Ontario Youth Ministry Team" stands in the middle of these two groups and manages the All Ontario Board, among other things.

The mandate of the body is:
The OYMT is drawn from and is called to serve the youth, CRC congregations, and classes in Ontario It is accountable to the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA) – Canadian Ministries office.

The group is supposed to consist of two representatives from each Classis in Ontario.  Some have two, some have one.

We meet two times a year and oversee any ministries that are on an Ontario level.

At present we oversee the All Ontario board, are partnering with Youth Unlimited and the Soul Care Retreats, and are keenly interested in Young Adult ministries, though we have have limited success in this area.

This group has been in existence for 3 years now and is a pilot project of sorts to see if this can help restart some classis youth ministry initiatives that have fallen by the wayside.

Those who attend have a passion for youth ministry and desire to see youth all over Ontario engaged in a vibrant, dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ.

I just thought you might like to know what's been going on in the Province of Ontario with regards to youth ministry.
