Final TACO NIGHT - CIA

Throughout the past year adults have been meeting with our grade 9 - 12's once a month in a mentor/mentee ministry.

Slowly they have been building relationships with each other, and for the most part, I think we have all enjoyed our times together.

We called these evenings TACO nights.
It stands for Take A CIA [member] Out

I wanted our last evening to be a special evening...and since at the beginning of the year one of our youth thought we were going to have TACO's each time we met (really: ) ) I figured we might as well actually HAVE Taco's as a group our final night together.

So, a couple of weeks ago,
on a Tuesday night,
at about 4 pm,
I stared the process of getting Taco's ready.
Nice picture eh.
We needed to feed 30 people.
That's a lot of Taco's.

14 lbs of Hamburger to be fried.

Tomatoes to be cut...thanks Mel.

The room needing to be set up by Jeanine and Heather.

Lots of tables and chairs to get ready.

Oh, and Kevin decided to show up JUST as we were about to begin...he got to do dishes.  : )

Heather relaxing...again.
I guess putting all those chairs up is hard work.

Some of the hard Taco shells.
We also had soft Taco shells.
Apparently they are better when warmed in the oven.

The tables ready for people to be sitting by.

Oh yeah...
remember that previous blog where I talked about Ryan?
Well, it seems that Ryan actually broke a bone near his growth plate.  Needed a full leg cast.  Ouch.

Nice blue color though.  : )

As people slowly arrived, some got a little crazy.

Simon and Jonathan can be pretty goofy at times.

Ryan has a small group around him talking about the intricacies of cast placement.  : )

The group is arriving now and we will soon begin.

But before we can begin we need to get Ben's head out of the tables....

And Simon's

and Jonathan's...sigh : )

These boys are ready for food.....

Hey Gerry.

Ok, ok, you can sit down now..food's ready!

Whew...they finally listened.

A great group of mentor/mentee's.

Time for TACO's.
Thanks for all the help in getting things ready Mel, Jeannine, Heather, and yes...Kevin too.  : )

Taco's disappeared like nothin' : )

Wilma getting the low down on Ryan's knee/leg.

I think I purchased 120 Taco's in total

And pretty much all of it went...maybe we had a bit too much hamburger...maybe. : )

After the meal was over we spent a bit of time sharing what we learned about each other.  Some nice stuff was said.

We are hoping to continue this mentor/mentee relationship next year.
We'll be adding a few more grade 9's this year (4 females) so we will be soliciting more individuals to be mentors.
FYI.  : )
