Update from Pastor Sergio in Peru

Greetings all,

Erin from FrontlinePeru sent me this update letter from Pastor Sergio.  They are making progress on the school, and doing great things there.  We look forward to his coming here to Canada from April 9 - 18 and having him get to know us better.  Enjoy his letter and short video.

NOTE:  We have a meeting this Thursday, February 10 at Calvin at 7 pm to talk about Pastor Sergio's visit here.  If you have been to Peru with us before, or are thinking of going with us in March of 2012, please come to the meeting.

Ron.

Erin's notes first.

The video shows the entrance to the school, where they have installed cement ramps that will lead up to the classrooms. The main entrance to the school will now be a door between the dining hall and the library, and the kids will come up the ramp to where the classrooms are. You can also see the dining hall, the old classrooms, and the newest classroom off to the far right. The bathrooms are also being updated a little bit, though you can't tell from this video clip.

Dear Pastor Ron,

I express my greetings, and may the all-powerful Lord continue to shower you with blessings (Ezekiel 34:26) in all of the areas of your life. God’s promises are so effective and real. God’s promises never fail (1 Kings 8:56) for his faithful servants. It is good to be able to write to you, one of the Lord’s faithful servants, a partner and a friend. May the Lord bless you greatly, Pastor, for the way that you give your life as a sacrifice, a life poured out for the Lord.

Gamaliel Ministry began in order to bless and be blessed. We are testimony to what God is doing in this great work, and how he has raised up partners that share in our ministry’s mission. You can see God’s greatness in all of this. May all of the honor and glory be for Him.

We have organized Gamaliel’s ministry so that it can continue to move forward. The different areas have responsibilities such as Sunday school, youth, library, dining hall, school, etc.

The church is praying every morning at 5am – some in their homes, and some come to the temple – and in this devotional time we are reading the book of Job. Job’s life is incredible, and one truth surprises me: that God is sovereign in all things.

In these days, we are working on the physical improvement of Gamaliel school according to the recommendations given by Peru’s educational sector. We are also doing publicity by means of local radio, flyers, large signs, and loudspeakers, and we are seeing results. But above all else, we are praying every morning so that the school will be a way for God to be glorified. It makes us very happy that we will have more students this year, 2011.

From January 24-29, a group of 9 women from Wisconsin came to visit us. The theme was “A week for us women” because it was a work among women. [Erin’s note: The team put on workshops for the women in the community about how to be a godly woman, mother, wife, and friend.] It was a great blessing. They also worked with the children. Now we have various women in Pachacutec who we will be visiting so that we can share the Word with them.

On February 3-4 we will be celebrating a message called “Nights of Peace and Hope.” On the 5th, we will have a night of praise and jubilation. On February 6, we will be celebrating our church’s anniversary. We’ll have a ceremony of thanksgiving, and then a lunch. We are excited and working very hard for these upcoming events.

I am sending you some images of the church.

Pastor Ron, I am very excited and happy about the trip to Canada. I am praying every morning so that God’s will may be done on this trip, and I am totally convinced that it will be a great blessing.

I will say goodbye.
Your brother in Christ,

Sergio
