Youth Unlimited - Special Needs SERVE2010 - Meet the Team

On Saturday, July 10th, 22 Mentors and 15 Participants will descend on Calvin Christian Reformed Church for our third SERVE week.

The Planning team is feverishly getting last minute plans together, and the kitchen crew is busy preparing some great meals for us to enjoy.

Our work sites are set, and we have a few surprises this year as well, for those of you who are returning.  Before we begin "officially" with SERVE, I wanted to introduce you to the team.  Take a look below to get an idea of who will be present for this SERVE experience....

Planning Team

This group of individuals is just AWESOME, and not just because I'm part of the group  : ).  This is our third year planning this event.  It is allot of work, but it is also allot of fun.  Just a couple of notes:

I didn't smile for my picture because I thought private eye's/special secret agents were supposed to be SERIOUS.  Apparently, according to these pictures, not the case.  : (

Second, Tamara is our long distant planner.  She moved away last year, but she is still helping out for this SERVE.  She'll be coming for part of the week.  Looking forward to see you again Tamara.

Mentors

Below are our Mentors for the week.  These young people will come alongside our participants one on one, or paired, and get to know them, love them,  work together,  play sports together, pray together, sing together, and yes, eat together.  : )   For those of you I know, I've put a couple of comments below your tag.  For those of you I don't know, well, give me time, you'll soon have comments too.  : )

Andrea is currently somewhere in Paris, I think.  A last minute family vacation.  From her Facebook page you can sure see that she's having a GREAT time.

Hey Ben.  Remember to get your sleep eh man!!!!

My son!.   He just got a new bedroom downstairs.  Maple Leaf Blue paint.  NOT A NICE colour to paint with.

DAVID!  You da man!

Esther.  I coached her at high school volleyball.  An Intense player.

Fontana......no hitting me during SERVE eh!!!!!

Hannah.  Hey, this picture is kind of dark.  Your dad didn't take this one did he?  (tee, hee).

Hmmmm Jacob.  Nice hair.....hmmmmm

Joanna.  Soooo, what do you have planned in the way of practical jokes THIS year eh!!!!!!!

Joy.  Keep smilin'.  God loves you.

Julianna.  Track athlete excellantttte

My nephew.  Cool man.  BUT, he DOES like the Maple Laughs, like my son. We all have our flaws in life.   : )

Megan.  There are two of you this year.  No, there could only be ONE Megan....

Hey Mikester......getting excited yet.  Got that job yet?

Rachel.  Sorry about the Green picture, but you took too long to get me your good one.  Sorry......

And finally, Rosalynn.  A great person....though watch out if you are playing Duck, Duck, Goose.  She plays for keeps.

Participants

Lastly, but definitely not leastly....(is that a word?) we have our 15 participants.  Some returning, some coming for the first time.  This year we had to turn away a couple, which saddened us, but hopefully in years to come there will be other SERVE sites like this one for many more Participants to go to.  We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday and getting reacquainted with you, or beginning brand new friendships.  May God grant you travelling mercies as you make your way to Ottawa.  Blessings and see you soon.
