2024 Mission Trip - David Kentucky - Tuesday

Day 4

Tuesday

Up for 7 a.m. devotions.

Most of us were in bed by 10:30 p.m.

I was comforted by seeing Ryne this morning as the first one up.  : )

I was comforted by seeing Ryne this morning as the first one up.  : )

And Janene working hard already getting breakfast ready for us.
Janene and Kim are doing an awesome job.

Marika once again doing what she loves to do.

Morning devotions done by Craig at 7 a.m.
Most of us were awake to hear his wise words : )

During breakfast 1/2 the group made their lunches....

And the other half ate.
We had a hashbrown egg casserole.
Yummy.

The gang is very talkative during our meal times.
Nice to hear.

Another crisp morning.  Scraping off the vans.

Craig looking at directions to get to their site.

The following pictures are of our site, so I apologize if ours are more than the others : )
We started the day by putting insulation in the wall we had taken apart.

Cadie discovered the drywall saw and was very good at cutting the holes for the plugs and light switches.  I can never get the measurements right. : )

We also continued on the flooring to get to the door.

The first piece of drywall on.

Daniel did a great job of repairing this floor.

Elyssa helping out Megan.

The measuring and cutting happened outside.  Ryne was once again our resident drywall measurer.
It's a good thing the weather was sunny out.  Normally it's raining and there's lots of water in the yard.
God is good.

As the drywall went up, we started to mud.

Cutting up the floor outside as well.

It fits!! : )

Daniel finishing up screwing down the floor.

Melissa helped us out all day : )
She's a hard worker, willing to learn, and very appreciative of what we are doing

The sun was hot today.
But great for cutting outside.

Our work area : )

Time for Lunch.

Ryne loves her dog : )

Once we were done the flooring and the wall, we started on the ceiling.

The mudding on the wall continued as we started the ceiling.

During the flood lots of rain entered the kitchen ceiling.  Holes were poked into the insulation during the rain, after the ceiling came down.
I asked Cadie to hammer the staples into the ceiling.

She needs to be a weee bit taller. : )

Ryne cutting the first ceiling piece.
Trying to fit it into place.

Yes, this is proof I did work this week. : )

It seems Daniel was having a hard time finding the stud in the ceiling : )

Holden cutting away the old drywall so it will fit properly.
Ryne is unaware of the picture being taken : )

Oh, now he's aware : )

Megan cleaning up the kitchen from all the dust we made.

This is a piece of drywall that was cut backward by Ryne.
You win some, you lose some : )

Apparently, Elyssa is afraid of heights.  : )

Though I don't see how a step ladder is that high   : )

Holden trying to keep the sun off his neck.

Apparently Megan and Cadie think I don't work much, so they grabbed this shot of me relaxing.  I told them it's because I trust THEM to do the work. : )

The ceiling keeps taking shape.
We will continue on it tomorrow and start sanding the mud, and hopefully be able to put a floor down.  Until tomorrow.

On to Jason and Harold's group now.
Marika once again is narrating.
A woman of few words : )

Danik and Abby spent most of the day putting the spindles on the stairs.

And they're done!

Claudia spent a long time rebuilding the bottom step after it broke.

Malan, Rohan and Harold spent their time redoing parts of another part of the deck.

Replacing the rotten floorboards.

Getting rid of the old posts.

And putting new ones in.

Between helping everyone else, Jason put up the structure for the deck we took down yesterday.

Ron back again.
I think this picture should have been higher up, but you get the idea. : )

Now we are on to Mary and Craig's group.
Mary and a few of her crew made comments on the pictures.
They didn't upload in order, and I asked them to number them so I could resort them, but I'm too tired, so just scroll up and down to figure it out. : )
Kind of like a picture puzzle.

We were the first to arrive back again : )
I started on the blog right away.  Others decided to play.

Supper at 6 p.m.
Starting to get into a routine.

Taco's.
Yummie.

And Yes, I did dishes today.
I ducted out of my turn yesterday to do the blog.
The group was having none of that today : )
So I relented.

Nice to see Holden and Jason stealing the spotlight.

At 7 p.m. we gathered again for a time of reflection and sharing of the day's highs, lows, and seeing God at work.  Was nice to hear things.

And then small group time.
Different groups each time.

We got our t-shirts tonight from World Renew.  We will get a team shot soon.  Holden has decided to use it as a way to keep the sun off him tomorrow : )

After small group time, it was hang-out time till bed.  Some have already gone others just chatting it up.

Oh, and our new shoe rack.  : )

Soooo, another day in the books.
Thanks for reading along.
If you want to comment please leave one.  I'm trying to figure out why the comments aren't staying.  I'll be looking at that shortly.

Until tomorrow
