Classis Eastern Canada 2nd Annual (we hope) Young Adult Retreat

Welcome back.  : )
This blog post will describe our 2nd Classis Eastern Canada Young Adult retreat weekend that we held this past Feb 8 - 10, 2019 at a cottage somewhere near Sealey's Bay.  : )

We had 17 people present from 4 different churches this time around.

Our drive in this year was just as treacherous as last year, with snow and wind being our nemesis, and then ice in the driveway.
But somehow we made it there and parked and managed to get all our supplies into the cottage without damaging anyone too much.
Joe and Scott relaxed a bit after the arduous expenditure of energy.  : )

Seems that Ian found his sleeping quarters for the two nights.

Our cozy group getting acquainted for the evening with some nice get to know you questions.

Then it was time to relax and play some games.

Or just relax and stay warm, though it wasn't cold in the cottage at all.

Or just relax.

Before we knew it it was morning.
William is an early riser.
The sun was beautiful and the surroundings equally so.

A nice calm and beautiful place to stay.

Bacon for Breakfast.
What else could anyone want : )

Ian catching up with God.

The group milling about waiting for me to get my act together and get the eggs and bacon moving.

Time to eat!

Time to clean up!
Nice to see Joe working finally : )

Always a smile from Joe.

Apparently he liked William's decorative clothing choice today. : )

Our food stash.

A window with a wonderful view.
We saw a deer run across the ice.

And a coyote, that someone thought was a wolf?  : )
or was it a fox that was thought to be a wolf?  I forget.

Morning talk time.
We talked about how to discern God's will from a book by Kevin DeYong, entitled, Just Do Something.

A bit of a break and then lunch time.

I think it took three moves for Joe to be check mated : )

Our cars lined up on the ice.

After lunch we had free time.
Some decided to go snow shoeing.

Good idea with all this ice and snow.

Off they go into the bush.

Some of us walked the road.
Just as icy and treacherous.

Looks like Jenna should have gone snow shoeing. : O

Nice group photo.

Time for games of all kinds.

Scott and I sat down and a game of Cribbage broke out.
Whoot.
I didn't win  : (

We taught Miranda how to play.....
She won : (

Some chose to do art

Some chose to do homework : )

Some chose to play Phase 10...
for about 10 hours  : )

Nice and cozy and relaxed as supper is being prepared.

And dishes cleaned up before supper.

Spaghetti and meat sauce
yummy

David is content.

Improvising with not enough chairs.

Good fellowship

After supper we had another session.
Good discussions and more get to know you time.

Then the rest of the evening was more social time.
Rummy Cub.

MORE Phase 10!

More social time.

 MORE Phase 10!

And a great game of Code Names too.

Sunday morning came quickly.
Pancakes for breakfast.

Miranda and Courtney prepared them.

While others....well...didn't : )

Breakfast of champions.

Joe, what are you doing?
That's gross!

Banana's and Nutella.
I guess I could handle that.

After Breakfast Scott led us in some church time.
We even sang this time around. : )

Then it was time to clean up and head out.
You'd never know we were there.

Time to pack up and try to make that steep hill just behind us.
Took a couple of tries for some of us, but we made it eventually.
Another great weekend in the books.

Hopefully next year we will have a few more YA's out and let the fun and fellowship continue.
