Calvin's Youth Group Blesses 220 Viewmount Resident's at Christmas Time

Calvin and 220 Viewmount have a wonderful relationship.  Pastor Craig goes there monthly once a year and does a Bible Study for anyone who wishes to participate.

Calvin's youth group annually goes and hands out carnations to the residents, and we have done games nights too.

Calvin's youth group has also in the past come to share in the joy of Christmas by singing Christmas Carols.  We couldn't do this for the past couple of years, but this year we were happy to be invited back.

Our group was smaller due to the RSV going around, but those who came out were in full voice

 : )

We had a GREAT turn out.

A side view of our group.

A pano of the group.

We spent our time singing Christmas Carols in sets of three.   In between that I would read Christmas Story passages from the Bible, or poems about Christmas.  We were accompanied by a wonderful lady who played the keyboard with enthusiasm.

We were running a bit fast, so I also asked us all to share some Christmas traditions or memories.  That proved to be a rich time for all.  For some, it brought back memories long forgotten.  It was a touching moment I thought.

At the end of our time together one of the residents thanked us for coming.

Her words were, " You have no idea how much we appreciate you coming to share in Christmas song with us tonight.  We really really appreciate it.  Thank you so much!"

That was sweet to hear.

Here is a short video of how we all sounded.  Sorry for the moving camera : ).  Just close your eyes and listen if it makes you nauseous.

After we finished, we were treated to juice and Christmas baking.  And we socialized.

I saw Dorothy with her Camera taking all sorts of pictures. : )

Leanne chatting it up.

And Lewis

And Scott.

They made us take home treat bags.

So Sweet : ) Literally!

The elevator was broken in the building, so we went down to the first floor just before leaving to sing for a few residents who couldn't join us.

Again, much appreciation, and even tears from those who sang and listened as well.

So, thank you very much youth, and youth leaders,  of Calvin for coming out and being a rich blessing to these folks in ways you may not even imagine.  Community is powerful, especially after what we have gone through with COVID.   I sensed that this was a very powerful and emotional evening for many in the room.

Blessed to be a blessing to others.

Hopefully we can do this again next year.

Pastor Ron and the wonderful group of singers who came to entertain,

Getting older can sometime be depressing. But we at 220 are so blessed to live in a community where we are comfortable, safe and loved by each other.
We are also blessed by your youth group who took the time on a school night to spend some of their time with us. IT WAS WONDERFUL and we were all delighted to have had you at 220.
Sharing memories of Christmases past, remembering loved ones who have also passed is something we all have in common here. But Christmas is the celebration of a Blessed Event and we honour the One who made the ultimate sacrifice for us all.
Thank you for caring enough to join us here! Merry Christmas, Dee Careau
