Youth Group Mission Night at the Mission Thrift Store - Nov 2022

Calvin's Youth group is like most other groups.  We gather together for games and to learn more about God and each other via Bible Studies.  

We also try to go out and serve in our community when possible.  COVID has made that much more difficult, but this past Tuesday several from our group were able to go visit the Mission Thrift Store and help them out with sorting and cleaning.  Unfortunately, we did miss a few youth due to this wonderful flu bug that's going around, but those who were able to come out were FANTASTIC in helping.  

This store has not been as affected by the loss of volunteers due to COVID (in some cases stores have lost 100 volunteers), but they do struggle with consistent volunteers so it was nice to be able to help them out for an evening.  They continue to raise funds for the Bible League.   

Bethany, the manager at the store, talked with the group for a bit about why they exist, what they do, etc.  After that, we were put to work. 

Some sorted clothes, and Bethany is showing us how things work for that to happen correctly : )

Grant, a true lover of books, wanted to sort books, so we gave him that task. 

He is a Sci-Fi lover, and apparently, this store doesn't have that category so he started his own : )

It's always nice to be able to serve in our community as far as I'm concerned, especially with a great youth group that we have : )
