Annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser

Yet ANOTHER pancake breakfast fundraiser was held at Calvin on Saturday, February 15th.  Family Day weekend.
It seems like a lifetime ago with all the changes we have seen in our world due to Covid-19.

But I wanted to share some positivity in these 5 posts in the hopes that soon we will be able to gather again face to face and enjoy events like this.

Soooooooo,

We always begin with a Friday night preparation time.

A smaller group.  There's Ella STILL smiling.
I think that's a permanent facial feature.  : )  And I like it!

The group hard a work pealing.

Wonderful colours.

Kendra, Shannon and Thomas hard at work.

Thomas our clementine peeler.

Lots of grapes to cut.

Lots  : )

Progress.

Ella got strawberry duty.

John putting it all together.

Lots of those clementines too  : )

Oh yes, and I worked too actually  :)

The End result.  Thomas approves.

Awe.  No, Ella, you didn't do ALL the work.
We helped too.  : )

After a short sleep, it was back to the church for 6:30 am.
Ella's still smiling.

Time to set up.

And get the kitchen moving.

Ryne preparing the batter.

Fellowship Hall taking shape.

Anna and Megan getting the syrup and other little things ready.  The details are important.

Colin overseeing the batter prep.

The pause before guests arrive.

Time for instructions.

And then let the cooking begin.

This year John let Colin do the pannekoek.
I was shocked !  : )
He seems to be handling it relatively well. : )

Shannon made the whipped cream.

Ella and Katrina decided to talk to each other.
Bahahaha!  :)
Who would know then that now this IS the mode of communication between friends?

Elizabeth making the gluten-free pancakes

John's sound system to keep the kitchen crew pumped.  : )

Peter is handling the blueberry pancakes.

Our FIRST patrons.
Whoot!

Hey, notice the colour coordination.  : )

Rachel and David and family enjoying breakfast.

I got them BEFORE they started eating.  : )

A larger group.

Shannon was our roving whipped cream expert this year.

Everyone enjoying their food.

There's Ella again.  : )

Kevin and Carmell.  Whoot.

Kendra welcoming guests...and of course
ELLA! : )

I love it when a plan comes together!  : )
Right Scott!! WHOOT!

Such an important job that Shannon has.

Corbin, what are you doing?

The kitchen keeps humming along.

Ella connects with family and Shannon keeps on keeping on  : )

Second shift.
We offer an 8 am and 9:15 am sitting.

Great to see the place buzzing.

These folks waiting for people needing anything.

And before we knew it, it was over! :(
THANK YOU to all who came out to support our youth group and OIM Art's program.

Due to the nature of our world at the moment, we are doubtful that the All Ontario Convention will actually happen, but we will wait and see.

Blessings to you all.
