Calvin's Annual Camping Weekend - August 2019

Way back in August, August 9 - 11 to be exact, many Calvinite's who like camping descended once again onto Fitzroy Provincial Park and one of their spacious group camping sites.
Well, actually the same site as last year  : )

This year Andy and Dianne were guests at a different Airbnb : ).  Gus and Margaret.  : )

Bill and Gwen were once again here, and Bill once again shows his love of being on camera.  : )

Andy likes to read while camping...

He just can't seem to get past the first sentence before taking a nap.  : )

People keep slowly moving in on Friday afternoon.
This year Evert and Annet and Nathan and Margaret picked a different spot. : )

And Harold and Bea took over their spot from last year.

Slowly but surely people start to congregate and fellowship.
It's always fun to watch it unfold.

The community is always nice as well.
Everyone helps each other.

Oh, and this year Fred and Diana came with a new trailer and offered tours of it.  : )
They should have charged an admission fee.  :)

Our site is slowly filling up.

Once again the large shelter goes up.
Sporadic rain was in the forecast, so this seemed like a good idea.

Always nice to see the kids mixing together.
Bocche ball was a hit.

Almost up.

Nice to see these folks watching Gus put the shelter up.
They were sooooo encouraging.  :)

A lul between tours I guess.  : )

Leo and Jannie arrive.

He's so happy to see me today.  :)

He wasn't that happy when I reminded him to turn his trailer around again (see last year's post for context).

Our little oasis for the weekend.

We brought Katrina and Elizabeth along to do the chores.
How nice of us, eh.  :)

It seems Andy also had to earn his keep at this new abode.  : )
He didn't complain much....noooooo  :)
Not much at all.

Dinner Al Fresco.

Two Motor Home geeks swapping stories.

Now that's a good idea.
Don't blend in with the surroundings.

Soon it was dusk and campfire time.

Bill brought out his mammoth marshmallow roaster again.

Always a hit.

Great conversations around the fire.
I enjoy watching as people just share life together.

Evert getting into marshmallow roasting as well.

A short night's sleep and up and at em.
Some minor hot water heater issues, but, again, people who camp together help each other.
It's a bond that is mysterious and wonderful.  : )

Our digs.

Nice breakfast.
And they didn't even offer me some.  : (

We tried to eat breakfast, but were swarmed  :)

Nice to see Andy has some help.

Now, this was a cool invention.
Instant campfire.
I ended up purchasing one from Costco.

The sun came out for a time.
Andy and Diane enjoyed it.
Andy didn't last long in the book though.   : )

Some went on a hike in the park.

Others, well, just parked and talked.

More added by the hour.  : )

Eventually, some games broke out.

And biking.

And there stands that wonderful shelter.

Good thing we had it because some rain did come.

\
Evening Dessert.
Among friends.

Dusk is upon us again.
This time some singing broke out.

Nice fire.
Bill is an expert at it.

Good morning Andy and Diane.

Yes, Elizabeth.....

That is sunshine.  : )

Breakfast by a smouldering fire.

And church at 9:30.

Then Coffee at the shelter.
An important after event.   )

Some games again before packing up.

And for the girls, a hike.

Not a long hike, but still nice.

We packed up and most of us headed to the beach as the sun was finally out.

Another great weekend.
We hope we can do it again next year.
Won't you join us??  : )
