Calvin Renovations

Over the summer months and into the fall Calvin has undergone some renovations.

It started with taking out the stones first on the East side of the building.
Mother and son working together.
Almost made me tear up. : )

Hard, back breaking work : )

Then more fine gravel put down and tamped.
Keith doing a great job.

Then putting some plastic down to keep the water running away from the building and then putting the stones back.

On to inside work.
I took on the task of taking off the 15 year old black anti slide strips from all the stairs.

It wasn't that bad.  : )

Once off, I put bright yellow anti slip strips down so people with vision issues will be able to see the stairs better.

Not bad if I do say so myself.  : )

I ended up putting down 360 feet of tape.
Whew!

We also took the prayer room and changed it into an accessible bathroom.
Andy is putting up steel studs.

The entire place was painted too.

Ryan was in town and available.
Thanks for helping out.

Nellie spent a LOT of time painting.

Gus giving Nellie a hand.

Annet spent days here as well.

Gus the master sander.  : )

Evert and Annet painting away

Pat tiling.

That is an art if you ask me.

Taking shape on the walls too.

Almost there.

A new and wider door with automatic opener.

The finished bathroom.
Though not quite ready for occupancy yet.

The final thing was to repair some of the deeper potholes in the parking lot.

Dig out the old asphalt.
Andy's smiling.

And working hard.

And Bill is still hiding from my camera  : )

Hmmmmm,
one working and three
(well 4 if you include me)
watching.

Almost done.

The end result ready to be filled with asphalt.

Done.
Not bad.

So now the church has been pretty much repainted upstairs and downstairs, the family and accessible washroom is finished and waiting for final inspection, the stairs are easier to see, the front doors have automatic opening capabilities now, and the driveway isn't collecting as much water in the potholes.

This work was done by contractors as well as several volunteers to help keep costs down.
Thanks to all who helped out during the renovations, and a HUGE thanks to Nellie and Bill who did the bulk of the work.

Take some time to admire the work done and thank them for their efforts.
