Annual Fall Retreat - Classis Eastern Canada - Part 1

On October 14 - 16 several CRC Churches gathered at CSR for yet another Fall Retreat, complete with THE FIDGETS.
Each year is different, as THE FIDGETS are an improv group and the skits are never the same year to year. : )
This is a two part blog, and there are some short 2 minute clips of THE FIDGETS at the end of Part 2, just an FYI.

I began the weekend with announcements...but wait...and aside....
what light through yonder window breaks...  : )

And then there's John.
An aside all of his own making.

Everyone is listening so intently to my announcements...

Well, almost everyone
sigh.  : )
Good OLD Dave.

We had a slightly smaller group this time around, but that wasn't so bad actually.

And our speaker, Pastor Dan in the middle there with the 100 year old sweater and cap, loved to ham it up too.

No idea what John is trying to do here....

We always start of with THE FIDGETS doing a few ice breaker games.

And it's usually
ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS.

We weren't disappointed.

William, that's not RPS at all.  : )

The group trying to eliminate their opponents.

I think Rhys is out.

The finalists

William didn't win this round  : (

The final two...whoot.
Who won...I don't remember.  : )

Then it was musical chairs using a sleeping bag of all things.

Leave it to THE FIDGETS to create new rules.

Up close and personal.  : )

Not many left.

And then there were three : )
Who won?
I don't remember  : )

We had Mike and Mel and a guest (forget his name) lead worship again.
They have a name for themselves now.
Bear Feet.
Has lots of different meanings, ask them sometime. :

Mike

and Mel

Enthusiastic worshippers.

Actions to the songs even.  : )

Pastor Dan's turn to speak.
Must be getting old.  : )

hmmmmm,
Don't remember.
Ask Pastor Dan.

And then it was time for more of THE FIDGETS

I think this one you had to end every sentence with a question.

Elizabeth ready to go.

It was boys against the girls.
I think Katrina got Scott.
That's what I remember at least.

Mike and Debbie.

Mike did end up winning that round.

This is how I know. : )

Hmmmm, Pastor Dan...you are in the girls line...

You too Chris...good grief.

Chris went a few rounds.

After THE FIDGETS we moved to the dining area and did some games.
Or maybe some arrests...can't tell.

Everyone against the wall...hands in the air....

oh, no, now I remember.
Everyone got a name on their back and others had to help them guess what it was.

Dan in the thick of it.

Dave getting ready for the next day..... or he's hacking into my email again.  : (

After a good night's sleep, it was
RISE AND SHINE and
BREAKFAST TIME.

Eggs, bacon, etc.

The front of CSR.
You've seen it before in other posts if you follow them.

Oh, yes, almost forgot.
Rachel and Karlena couldn't come until the morning.
Here there are chipper and coffee filled already.

Awe, how nice of you to help with the dishes John.
So unlike you. : )

A bit of a dance jig to pass the time until everyone starts to listen....they quieted down pretty quick.
Bahahaha.

FIDGET game.
Guess which cup the orange ends up under.

William won.  Whoot.

Ella and Rhys competing in something.

Oh, and Mike and Mel acted out something with Mel in labour.

It was hillarious.

So real.  :)

Pastor Dan spoke again.
Used props this time.  : )

After Dan we went outside for some games.
It ended up being a nice morning and afternoon.
The rain held off, which we were thankful for.

Gaga Ball.
They have their own now.
Nice.

Everyone got into the game.

William, be careful.

Rhys making sure he stays in the game.

NOOOOO
DON'T SHHOOOTTTT

Guess she didn't.

A game of basket broke out too.

Nice shot Ella.

Daniel giving it a try as well.

Nice angled shot.

Seems little Reuben wants in on the action too.   : )

Every year we seem to replay the same games. : )
They are always enjoyed because Dave does the calling.

Awe, cute.

You too Dan!  : )

Jeannine
You bored?   : )

Everyone fell asleep...oh no, that game again.   : )

Dave calling out instructions
AGAIN!

The gathering of the minds....
or something like that.

Scott playing a game I haven't yet seen played while at CSR

Miniature lawn bowling?

LUNCH TIME!
Hi William.

Everyone is so patient.

Hey Dave.
Looking wise as usual.

Scottster.

The DAB !
Whoot.
End of part 1  : )
