Calvin's Youth Group Camping Trip to Achray - Part 1

On September 8th, several members of Calvin's youth group and 5 adults once again travelled to Achray Provincial Park for our kick off weekend.  We love going to Achray.  A beautiful park off the beaten path where you can canoe and hike and enjoy nature.
We arrived just before dusk and set up our campsites.

Peter was tasked with starting the camp fire.
Where there's smoke, there's usually fire.  : )

There we go.
It was a cold weekend that weekend.
Seemed to be the ONLY cold weekend in the month of September.  Strange month the month of September was.
The fire was a welcome source of warmth.

After a cold night (it was cold, almost got to zero) we were up and ready to cook breakfast.
Peter getting the "good" coffee going.  : )

Hello there Gillian.
At least she's still smiling.

My trailer, and shelter where we would cook our meals.
I once again gave up my my trailer so Katrina and her friends could have it.  I slept in a tent. I hate tents. : )

Looking down the road to the other sites and the water.

Hmmmm, is that Kyra.
She looks so Cozy.  : )

Rise and shine and try to stay warm.

Cracking the eggs I think for Scrambled eggs.
A slightly different meal this time.

Thomas helping make the oatmeal.
We focused on oatmeal this time.
Always seems to go down well.  : )

Our eggs getting ready to be be scrambled.

Corbin, patience.  : )

Peter with the final oatmeal product ready to go.

Good morning Nicolette and Caralynn.
Smiling as usual.

I'm getting the eggs ready to go.
But apparently I wasn't doing it right...so...
Nicolette took over.  : (

Time to eat....

Glad there are happy faces in the midst of the cold morning.

After breakfast I gathered the group up to let them know what the day would bring.

We would hike and canoe to the falls/slide.
And we would make our lunches as well to take along in the canoes.

Peter organized the crew going to the falls/slide.

Hey Elizabeth.
Sun in your eyes ? : )

Ella, Ella, Ella.

Adalia is ready to go.

It was a wonderful sunny day thankfully.
Warmed things up a bit.
Ella seems ready to go to.

Everyone in.

Time to get a move on.
They would canoe for 2 hours.
We would hike for 1.

Hmmmm, doing a practice circle?

Seems like they have things in hand now.

Good by Peter and company.

Relaxing until it was time for us to leave.

So, I gave Katrina the camera this weekend.
Turns out she likes taking pictures.
Most of the pics you will see in these two entries are from her.  Just an FYI.

Some scenery shots.

And people shots.

Almost time for us to leave.
Stretching time??

Lena and Corbin, well part of Corbin. : )

Off to the trailhead.

Dad,  which way????

Oh, that way.

Who is that.... : )

The hike is a good climb.

I got pics of them passing by.

After a good hour we arrived at our destination and timed it well with the canoes.  Here they come.

Nicolette where is your life jacket?

The water was pretty high this year.

And it was either nice and warm or pretty cold, depending on the sun.

Lots of water.

Sunny out so I took the shade.
Annette likes the sun.

The canoe group, with our lunch.  Whoot.

A series of pictures taken by Katrina.

With the water being high, the slide wasn't as long, and it looked like the undertoe was pretty strong so I asked those who wanted to do the slide to wear a life jacket.
Christine volunteered to go first.

hmmmm, someone's towel got in the way : )

You can just see her head bobbing : )

All is good.

I see Katrina found a snake as well.

Seems Christine decided to take the long way back.  : )

Hey Lennea.  How's lunc ?

Ella going to try it now.

oops.

down she goes.

and away.

no one was injured in the taking of these pictures. : )
Just an fyi.  : )

Christine once again.

Why do people do that ?  : )

Where'd she go ?

relaxing on shore

Exploring.

There was a small cliff you could jump off too.
High water made it smaller.  : )

More people going down the slide.

Hey, look!

A nice bird.  What kind?
Haven't got a clue : )

One, two....

....three Jump!!

All smiles.

Where'd they go?

That must be Corbin. : )

Relaxing in the sun.
When it was out it did warm you up.
