2015 - Peru2015 Team Fundraiser - Fred Lacroix Concert

Peru 2016 will be happening in March Break of 2016.
Our team is preparing by attending orientation sessions, as well as fundraising for their experience.
Here's an entry that describes yet another fundraiser we did.
Fred graciously agreed to once again host an evening concert for our Calvin community, and anyone else who wished to come.
We were hoping that Jeremy would be able to perform again too, but unfortunately it did not work out for him this year.  Maybe next year??  : )

The Concert was held on
Saturday, November 28; start time 7 pm.
We began setting up around 5:30 pm.
Here's Katrina getting the donation envelops ready.

We serve different kinds of coffee, tea, and desserts.
Here's some of the group getting the dessert ready.

Andrea, what are you pondering?
hmmmmmmm  : )

The draw for this event, I think/hope : )  is that we try to make this concert experience something that is up close and personal.  To do that we take all our furniture from the youth room and other places and place it in the sanctuary around the piano.  Here are Peter and Pastor Craig using their muscles to maneuver the furniture.

The end result.
Not bad, but pretty close to last year's.  : )

Hello groupies.
How's it going in the kitchen?

The desserts are always above and beyond.

These look tasty.
I have no idea what they are, but they look tasty.  : )

Getting the tea table set up.

And the coffee tables with desserts.

The finished fellowship hall.  Ready for guests.

Two views of the sanctuary.
Ready for guests.

Oh look, here they come.
Hmmmm, Zoe and Leah aren't smiling.
Time for a pep talk.  : )

We set up tables for people to sit down and relax.
Fellowshipping was from 7 - 7:30 pm.

A dessert table ready for the taking.  : )

Daniel and Ryan at a table serving coffee.

Pastor Craig with someone not from our team serving coffee.  : )

More guests relaxing with coffee/tea and desserts.

Peter, "how may I help you?"

We brought back our espresso machine.
It was a hit two years ago and Cindy was gracious enough to provide it again.  THANKS.

Hey William.
How does it feel to be a guest now? : )

People had many decisions to make regarding what type of dessert to pick.  : )

The place is filling up.
SWEET!

People always have fun in the pre-concert part.

Keep up the good work Ryan.

And Andrea.
Always making sure that the coffee urns were full.

Pastor Craig even stirred the coffee.
What service...or was that for you. : )

Leo, Cathy, Sonja and Elizabeth catching up.

Always time for specialty coffee.
Christine and Wilma LOVED it.  : )

Jacob brought a friend who loves classic piano.
Great job Jacob.

The line was steady for espresso.

I socialized, and also made sure our group was on top of things.  : )  Someone has to lead.

Hey Evert and Carmen and Hac.
Enjoy the concert.

It took Caralynn to get Zoe and Leah to smile.
THANKS Caralynn.  : )

Christine and Rosy catching up.

Peter, the consummate tea barista.  : )

I see Leah was bored at the donation table.  : )
Nice artwork though.

The calm before the guests are allowed in.

And here they come.

Get comfy everyone.

Whew, Fred arrived.  :)

After introducing Fred, he took things into his own hands.
A professional.  : )

He would always explain his song choice.....

....and then he would play.
Such talent.

People just sat and drank in the beauty of the music.

A picture from the balcony.

Fred sure made the piano keys hum.

Applause after every piece.

And there were many pieces.

Nice candle picture Chris....
My son took most of the concert pics.

I think this was intermission time.
Evert let me know he didn't like the large pot of Decaf coffee with no one serving him.
Next year we will make sure he has his own barista.  : )

Cindy's daughter helped out.
She was a trooper.
She was so tired by the end of the evening.
Thanks a bunch for helping.

Jonathan on his cell....

Heather on hers.....

And others communicating the old fashioned way.

Daniel.
What a card.

Hey, get back to work!!! : )

After the intermission it was time to welcome Fred back to the stage.

Everyone loves listening to Fred.
He's one of the top piano Concert players in Ottawa, and beyond I hear.

What follow are some pictures of the second half of the concert.  They speak for themselves.

Hmmmm,
Fred is so good, he's probably doing the piece and thinking about something else.  : )
Nah, he's into it.....

Pastor Craig keeping the coffee perks going.

Mother and Daughter sharing the fundraising experience.

Always lots of dishes to do.

And then it was time to clean up.

oh, but these pictures are in the first 1/2 of the concert.
The group relaxing.

Really Relaxing.  : )

Each in their own way.  : )

We sold off extra desserts and made an extra $100 doing that.
In the end, everyone went away happy, and we managed to raise $1650.00 for our Peru team.
Thanks to all who came out.
We hope we can offer this again next year.

So there you have it.
Another Concert/fundraiser in the books.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH Fred for your willingness to bless us with your gifts and talents when it comes to music.

Here are two short clips of Fred in action, just to whet your appetite for next year.  : )
