Games Night @ 220

Youth Ministry is not just about ministering to young people. Wholistic Youth Ministry involves the entire congregation. Young people certainly need a place, a space, to call their own in the realm of ministry at a church, but done in isolation, Youth Ministry can become unhealthy. Here at Calvin, I, as the Youth Pastor, I have tried to engage our young people in many levels of ministry and our congregation. One level is to get out and build relationships with all ages of our congregation. I have found that Intergenerational Youth Ministry has many benefits. Last night, we once again put our relationship building skills to work. We travelled to 220 Viewmount and spent the evening playing games with some of the residents there. The pictures below show us all having a good time. I'm always amazed at how easy it is for the different generations to get to know each other WHEN you give them both some neutral ground on which to work. Games do that quite well. Thanks to those at 220 who made us feel so welcome and provided such GREAT snacks for us. Thanks to our youth who came out and spent time with an age group that sometimes feels left out, forgotten, or spent. I heard many comments of thanks from the residents of 220 and the desire to do this again. We certainly will in the future.
